2009 hyundai elantra steering clunking noise

I went to the dealership today, its covered, im so happy!!! people check first with them, they put my vin in and told me its covered, some are some are not!!! :-)

You have to dis assemble the motor coupling, for the power steering underneath the dash, there is a small coupler you replace, very simple and fast. Solves your problem. Check on youtube.

It is the MDPS Flexible Coupling that is already mangled...thus creating this noise.

did you fix this problem, I'm having the same issue with my 2011 sonata and want to fix but not sure if I'm better off taking it in. I work on cars just never an electric power steering

I've got the 2012 Elantra with that same problem. It's a damage coupling. It's like a star looking thing which is the coupling that needs to be replaced. Part number is : 56315 2K000FFF flexible coupling. Google it.

I had this problem with my 09, luckly I had a service contract and it was covered under it but my column had to be replaced.

Have this problem on my 3 yr old Fluidic Elantra.... workshop says steering column needs replacement...

+ThePariss333 thanks man.... my vehicle was under warranty... the workshop said the steering column had gone bad.... got it changed...so far so good.

Where you able to resolve the issue? Seems lots of people with same problem, Hyundai bragging about 10 year warranty but they don't step up to the plate for this? Why not a recall? I found they sell you a repair kit for this noise consisting of a bronze bushing and a flexible coupling gear for a $120??? Are you kitting? What a nerve. Added 3 to 4 hours labor to that.....cheap design, cheap materials, high maintenance.

I have the same problem with my 2009 elantra I have been told its the steering rack and pinions that have worn out and its only the 07-10 elantra's with this fault and for brand new parts $3000 from hyundai or second hand with low kms on the parts just a few hundred $$$$ I think hyundai will need to fix it because its all factory parts under warranty.

Im having the same problem with my elantra 2012.. I went to a local mechanics and they told me to go and reach out the agency cause it could be the EPS.. electric powered steering.. and it makes sense since the sound seems to be located right under the steering wheel... I'm so pissed..! :@

Hyundai is full of crap I had this same problem on my 2012 sonata that cost me 365 bucks at Hyundai to fix the flipping little rubber piece wears out it only cost 2 bucks.

@@tob7719 I NEVER SAW THIS COMMENT. WELL, I STILL DRIVING MY ELANTRA 2008 WITH CERO PROBLEM. NOW THE LITTLE CAR HAS 161K MILES AND CERO PROBLEM, SO WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? I DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM AFTER 161K MILES. HOW DO YOU GUYS DRIVE OR TRY YOUR CARS?
