You’re the greatest mechanic ever! Simple and quick, thank you

Just did the engine and transmission mounts and holly fk what a difference. No vibration anymore and a pleasure to drive again. Will be doing the rear mount later on just cause I can.

Thanks brother, I can't wait to see how bad my rear engine mount looks after being hidden under all that stuff for 15 years. I agree too, these cars really just need basic maintenance to keep on chugging, never had an actual problem with the engine, transmission, or anything else that would be too hard for me to fix.

Love how you auto-corrected before wifey gives ya heck for that "so that she stops backing into stuff" comment lol. Although they are rust-prone, I think I will hold on to my Mazda 3 BK for much longer. I have not found anything modern as reliable with 4 doors that looks so happy, drives so freely, handles in such a lightweight manner and lets you feel the drive. Newer SUVs have nicer interiors but horrible driving dynamics--my wife had to use a rental 2023 Escape and she avoided driving it subsequently after driving it once--preferring to drive my smaller Mazda instead. We both realized how much we absolutely hated stuff like auto-engine off, lane keep assist, a stupid knob for selecting gears, a button instead of a parking brake lever, and the general heft and lacklustre acceleration of these newer bigger cars. That experience plus your video have inspired me to work on a hunny-do list for our Mazda 3 as well. Thank you for the easy to follow instructions.

@14:06 you can unbolt the TCU under the mount from the transmission and mount it to the stud on the firewall to reduce vibration. This was a recommended modification from a TCU rebuilder to prolong the integrity of the TCU circuit boards

Definitely suggest relocating your TCM while doing this - they commonly fail from all the heat they receive by sitting directly on the transmission. (It’s the silver, finned component next to the transmission mount.) I’ve seen them zip-tied to the brake lines so they don’t get so hot and fail. When they do go out, it’s at least $400-800 to replace or repair.

Thank you for the tip! The Mazda will be back in the garage for some suspension stuff.... I'll definitely look at relocating that while I have it apart!

I've got 281,xxx miles on a 2009 2.3L mazda 3. pretty sure the mounts are original and I'm gonna replace them here soon lol. I just did the rear shocks for $60 which cured a rattling in the rear and I've gotta replace both front struts too. BUT the motor in this thing has refused to quit. I got it for free from a family friend almost 2 years ago now and have put 7k miles on it myself ( I just use it for my 24 mile/day work commute)

I’m getting ready to do the same job on my 2013 3. Most motor mounts I seen online have only the insert and others come with the bracket. Would you recommend swapping out the two pieces(bracket & mount) or only the rubber insert? I’m at 176k miles

I just had a mobile mechanic give me a quote of $350 to put these on. That's pretty high right? I already have the parts.

11:00 The Transmission mount is kind of a PITA to get to (as you can see). I think the more mechanics have to remove parts, the more 'time' they tack on for it, and thus, the more they charge.

I think that price is fair for the extra work that goes into changing the left hand mount. Guess it really just depends on your budget and how valuable your time is to you

Did you jack the car when you changed the right engine mount, sir?
@Brandon-yq1tm6 ай бұрын
It's required, you can't even install the new mount properly otherwise fromn the engine sagging
