2009 Mazda 6; 3.7 liter Starter Replacement

Very useful, thank you. My 2009 is making a whirring sound after cranking and I suspect the starter solenoid is starting to go. This helped me understand the level of effort to replace the starter.

This video also applies to the 2007-2009 CX-9's. It is exact the same starter in the same location with the same mounting bolts and electrical connections. Remove the air box and battery holder then remove all the miscellanrous brackets and hoses. Pretty easy. Less than 45 minutes to remove starter and I took my time.

I’m sorry it took so long to reply. This was a brand new starter from Advance Auto. The new starter was a Mitsubishi. Better to get a new one if possible rather than a rebuilt one.
