I was 16 then and 30 now and I completely disagree. I see comments like this all the time. For me, It feels like 16 years passed cuz that’s what happened. A whole lotta days, times, memories, ups and downs. I think really people just wish they had even more time but they don’t say that, they instead pretend like they didn’t actually get any time (“it flew by in a blink!”). My problem with that is I think it is sort of ungrateful in a way to the time you’ve had to be alive already and witness things like this fantastic game and era of the NBA...some people die young getting hit by a drunk driver or get some rare form of cancer or get killed in a school shooting. You should be grateful to be alive so long and to still be young enough that you have many years left in your life! That’s my two cents. I’m not trying to hate just trying to show you a different perspective, one where you can just have an appreciation for life rather than just counting the days past or days we have left. The last thing I would say to you, about getting older-that you can always remember-it beats the alternative, brother!! 😅👍

West conference way strong than East during that era, this is the proof, Kobe brought the intensity to that team, cause we love to watch the real competition.
@youngloc523910 ай бұрын
No they were not. The West TEAMS was better than the East TEAMS but this all star game is evenly matched. The West was superior because they played a halfcourt game instead of relying on fastbreaks and pushing the ball up the floor for an easy basketball. Kobe literally said that in a interview the year prior
@ayporos604910 ай бұрын
@@youngloc5239 I said already Kobe can single handedly influence on court dynamic, he brought out the competitive spirit ion everyone on the court, same as he played the Olympics in Beijing 2008. In 2000s era, West conference are way stronger than East, East second seed only rank 5/6 seed in the west if you do consider their match-up win rate against each team, there is no debate in this .
@youngloc523910 ай бұрын
@@ayporos6049 You 1000% correct on both posts but what bothered me when you said this is the proof. What I was saying was although the West conference was stronger but individually the East vs West Allstar game was even. Same as the Olympics. Its literally the same players who won bronze. They just added Kobe and Kidd. So what Im really saying is Kobe was a special guy. Alot of ppl dnt understand that. They'll say Kobe was the 3rd leading scorer under Bron n Wade who avg. 2 steals. But what the documentary left out was Kobe coaching Wade to gamble for the steals while Lebron going to trail Wade for the fastbreak. So even though everything is clicking. You got 1 player who always ready to seize the moment and you have the media GOAT on the bench in the championship game. Where it ALL MATTERS
@ayporos604910 ай бұрын
@@youngloc5239 yeah, all you say about the 08 Olympics is true and I know thoses info, what I'm saying is Kobe is the guy that brings out competitive dynamics wherever he went. I'm not saying east/west team are'nt even ,ofc they are even in terms of power.but what makes the difference is the mind set, which is why Kobe are so special. That's the sole reason why past all star games with Kobe are so awesome to watch.
@youngloc523910 ай бұрын
@@ayporos6049 bro Kobe was my favorite but the allstar game in particular has ALWAYS been competitive. In 2010 Kobe didn't play and it went down with both teams playing smothering defense and running plays from the start. Yes it's the mindset. Players like KG, Duncan, Nash, Stoudamire etc didn't horse around. They have an old school mindset. Even Kobe first allstar game was competitive.

People always say what LeBron could or couldn't do in this era or that era but if you say that about LeBron, you say that about Kobe. LeBron and Kobe are the same era. They've won scoring titles back to back off each other, won MVPs back to back off each other. There was a finals streak where from 2007-2018, the finals either had LeBron or Kobe in them. LeBron and Kobe won 2 gold medals together. At the end of the 04-05 season, Kobe was 28ppg. LeBron was 27ppg. Both missed the playoffs due to having no help. Same era! People like to act like LeBron is a new generation player when the man's been in the league since Kobe & Shaq were together.

The only thing guys today are more skilled at is shooting the 3 and thats literally it. The average 90s/2000s player could effectively rebound, spread the floor and pass the ball, had post games, were better finishers through contact, better perimeter/interior defenders, and were much better mid-range shooters. Guys today sacrificed all facets of the game to pull 30 3s a game off high pick n rolls and are mainly one-dimensional and yet need leeway like rules with regards to carrying and traveling just to score at a high output. That's not skill
