That's why I prefer trying to find the 2011-2012 models even though they're the rarest ones. They have all the bugs worked out and they upgraded the transmission from a 5 speed to a 6 speed auto so you're more likely to see 20+ mpg. I remember the 2009-2010 models got the worst mpg since they upped the engine size to 3.7 and still used that outdated 5 speed.

I would recommend to reset the ECU/TCM on the car to bring all of the parameters back to default- and then relearn a new, more peppy driving style. The computers could be working against you simply because they’ve previously adapted to another driving style. I would also drop in a K&N air filter (same size/style as the original one, none of that short air intake stuff unless you want to hear the engine scream). The thing with the upgraded high flow air filters that I’ve noticed, is that you widen your MPG range.. In relation to factory numbers, you can save gas when lighter on the throttle, or use more gas when heavier on the throttle. And you do also notice a more audible VTEC engagement when you step on it. I had an 07 RL that I previously owned and put Redline Transmission Fluid in. Cant say it worked miracles on shift quality, since I did put it in from the start of ownership, but I didn’t really have any shifting issues. There is a tool the transmission manufacturers sell to adjust the shift solenoids. This way you can have quicker shifts per gear- but, I wouldn’t really mess around with that. It’s dialed in pretty good as-is. And I wouldn’t jeopardize the long term health of the transmission for a small change in shift speed. Overall, great car, SHAWD is amazing. Loved the 2007, now looking to get a 2010.

Be careful of the years 09-12 with the 3.7 V6 some of these motors had oil consumption problem along with TL’s and MDX. I had an 11 RL and it wouldn’t make through a whole oil interval without burning 3 qts of oil and yes it had terrible gas mileage. IMO stay with years 05-08 RL’s with the 3.5 V6 better gas mileage and reliability was bulletproof. I’m a RL enthusiast Love these cars. And to answer your question there great in all weather.

I own 2 Acura RL's an 2007 & a 2011. In your 2010 you have paddle shifters that are always ready so if you want a much quicker response then just grab the gear. You are relying on the transmission to react in it's laziest mode. Put it in Sport and it's a big difference. You're new to the car so you may not have learn these things yet. Also you can command heat/AC, F/R defrost, driver/passenger temperature/fan speed, radio/aux/XM, phone calls, restaurants & navigation all with your voice.

They're rare but not rare enough that the parts aren't accessible. Unless you're looking for a whole engine 😄

@@themockalove Better ride, better reliability, MUCH quieter just an all around better car, unless you are looking for handling, than the Acura is the ride for you.

I would disagree on the quietness. I test drove a few GS350's and the RL is much quieter and a bite comfortable to ride. And a clean GS example is a bit more $.

You should test drive a Hyundai Genesis. Preferably one with the available V8. I think its a better value than the Acura RL is
@themockalove4 жыл бұрын
I was considering them too. Although V8 would be even worse fuel consumption. But because they were still a new brand and the cars weren't proven just yet, I shied away from them for reliability sake and a peace of mind. But I'm sure they're a great bargain as well.

@@themockalove Well...the Hyundai genesis can utilize 87 octane. So the 2-3 MPG you lose would be more than made up with the savings of buying 91 octane fuel They are very reliable cars. There are few on youtube that have over 100K miles and still going strong

That's a good point. I think for the money, I also didn't find them that pretty lol

The original wheels are supposed to make the car quieter on the road 👍🏼

Hate to burst your bubble but there's not an ounce of wood in this car....

The press release states genuine wood. Now I'm 95% sure it's real ahah
@themockalove4 жыл бұрын
Excerpt from the press kit: "The steering wheel, genuine wood dashboard trim (included with the CMBS™ package) and metal-look accents are fitted to the RL along with a transmission shift knob with simulated wood trim."
@jrensh4 жыл бұрын
@@themockalove CMBS package? Right. See description your words "metal look....simulated wood trim..". I've had an '05, '08 and currently an '11. I've taken this car completely apart and reassembled. There's no wood in the dash, shift knob or wheel. Your right, it's a great value for less than $10K. While the interior is unchanged across all those years, the quality "feel" of later years never matched the level of superiority of the '05. For what it's worth.

Fascinating. I feel bamboozled by Acura. It feels very real as well. Kudos to them for making plastic feel great.
