I have the same model and I agree with all you said about your experience with the R. In addition the fuelling issue is often caused by the fuel injectors being out of synch and also the weak mixture at low engine speeds needed to get through emission tests. Balancing the injectors is easy with a couple of vacuum gauges and a 'Booster Plug' sorts out the fuelling by tricking the ECU into thinking its 10 degrees colder than it actually is makes it enrich the mixture

For information BMW make a seal to fit around petrol filler for the S1000XR which fits the 1200R perfectly and reduces water ingress.

Hi I have the same bike. It's really great, in town, on road, everywhere. It looks classic and cool at the same time!!! And a new R1200R, looks like Honda Hornet but with boxer engine!!!)))))

Have to agree with the fuel economy, easy to get 250+ out of this bike, that alone is excellent. Loving my R1200R.

Hello, thanks for review!!! Are you sure, about 260miles with one tank??

I can buy this bike locally for $4600 USD, same color actually (which I love). I'm in the market for something upright and comfortable for highway and cruising, no desire for off road. This model an generation seem to hit a real sweet spot in the used market right now for value and performance and enjoyment.

Hi Marcio , I had some issue with warning light on a right side of dashboard next to speedometer ( triangle attention light ) , that light isn't turned out after bike started and start driving , wonder if you had experience , come across same issue , what could indicate , I got bike few weeks ago , I had before R1150 R no issues ever ,but I haven't noticed anything wrong with a bike ! Great video , cheers :)

I'd check with the previous owner and take it to a mechanic asap. I never personally experienced that but visit the www.r1200rforum.com/ and you will find more help!

Hi Marcio - Great video. I have the 2011 version - the one when they changed the instrument panel. Hey, do you have problems with rough idle? Does the rev counter needle flutter around the 1,100 rpm when it's idling. I have other bikes and when they idle, the rev counter needle is stable. The BMWs isn't. Stay safe.
@marciofilho32225 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Have you had your's serviced recently? Sounds like valve adjustment or bad sparkplugs... should be simple to fix. Great bike... I'd like to get my hands on the 2011 wheels which look much better. Let me know how you get on. Cheers

Thanks Marcio. It's just been serviced and I took it back again to have this issue checked. The idling became a bit smoother but not by much. What I'll do is what you suggested: next time I'll buy the plugs myself to make sure that they are the right ones. Keep well!

@@Censuwine the boxer engine IS naturally quite a noisy engine. Make sure it is checked by someone experienced b4 spending anything. But do check, this is a fantastic unit and source of much fun.
@Censuwine5 жыл бұрын
@@marciofilho3222 Yes Marcio, it is a noisy engine. The good thing about the R1200R is that it is by far the best looking bike around in my opinion. The Guzzi V7 and the Triumph Bonneville range give it a good run for its money but I still prefer the BMW. The drawbacks are: 1) I don't think it is an ideal bike to use constantly in congested traffic. My riding is 95% intense traffic and the thing feels like a kangaroo. It is no fun driving at a constant low speed in 2nd and 3rd gear when you need to keep the revs between 2K and 3K. Take it into the twisties or even on a motorway and the whole game changes - it's a lot of fun. 2) There are a lot of them (judging by You Tube videos) with a rough idle problem. It gives you the impression that it's going to stall although it rarely does. The same problem makes it almost impossible to rev it up violently while in neutral without risking stalling. 3) I've had it for almost 8 years now (from new) and I still can't figure out how the alarm works! The alarm manual runs into over 30 pages!! Having said all this, I stuck with it so far because it was the bike I always wanted. I previously had an R1150RT which was more comfortable and smoother. As I get older, however, I'm inclined to trade down in terms of engine capacity. Eventually, I want to find a bike that is as smooth as possible between 500cc to 800cc. Any ideas?
