Mate, just sold my Gen 2 SDR after 12 months of ownership (funny that eh) and bought a 1290 Super Adventure S and I'm loving it. I reckon for the roads I ride, I'm faster, safer and definitely having a whole lot more fun. Done more miles in 2 weeks than I'd done in 6 months on the Super Duke. Horses for courses 😉 You'll never find the perfect bike, but the one that makes you smile the most is the one you should keep. Then buy another for comfort, another for the scare factor, another for short blasts, another for sunny days, another for commuting, another for... 😂

very true Nick, I do the love the SDR but just a few niggles which annoy me. But I think its like any bike, none of them are perfect. Im really enjoying the GSXR which has shocked me as thought I was done with sportsbikes, so much so Im considering buying the longtermer I have.. But thats another story / vlog haha

@@LambChopRides haha, never say never. Given the time (and the money (and space)) I'd like to see a 790 Duke next to my 1290 SAS. It'll do what I need it too on the naked front. I guess it's about priority. Knowing what I know now, I should have kept my 1190 Adventure I had and bought a good used gen 1 1290 SDR. I'd have been better off, but hey-ho...

Hi Lamb Chop, I have the KTM 1290 SD Gen 2 and have invested in Andreani fork cartridge kit plus fork springs suited to my weight. I wasn't quite convinced by the Ktech fork service option so invested a bit more in a cartridge kit and it has transformed the ride quality and front end feel. I am now ordering a 180 x 185 rear spring to suit the front end work that I have had done. The Gen 2 isn't perfect (but is any bike) but it can be made a whole heap better. The Andreani kit fits your bike also, maybe try an upgrade first to get rid of the front end choppiness (pardon the pun) before blowing a bigger wad on a bike swap?.
@LambChopRides6 жыл бұрын
Yes Ive looked at those, did you send me a message on Facebook about them? Sorry If I didnt reply, yes really considering those
@garrydyke53506 жыл бұрын
Yes I think I did. Even if I decide to sell it (perhaps for a Super Adventure R as per Nick Bennett) i thought it whoever buys it next would only need to buy springs to suit there own weight and style of riding at circa £85.00. So in theory this should increase resale value in my head??. I also recently purchased an BMW R1200GS 04 model with full Ohlins suspension and an Akrapovic can for bugger all money. I am genuinely amazed by how good a bike that is as a road bike. I have to say that adventure bikes are bloody good on the road. God I sound old.

That s1000rr sounded very mean when pushed :). I also think maybe a tuono 1100 may be a good balance point for you. 1/2 way between sport bike and upright naked. That or an s1000r. I bought an '18 this spring and love it more and more every day. It definitely is a grower

Your mods on the 2.0 would be lovely. I’m getting a little bored after a year and 9k miles but I’ve covered more miles on the SDR than any of my previous 5 bikes..... I still think the Tuono is too temperamental - my 1100 V4 had its issues and checking the forum there are still plenty of unhappy customers. I think we will see a new SuperDuke, Tuono and S1000R within the next 12 months. I’m holding out for the updates before making my next move!

Whatup chop 👍🏻 a pal of mine just recently brought a 2012 BMW S1000RR and let me ride it. First impressions of it were blimey little quicker than I'm use to but as time went by other than the obvious power difference to my 2013 Daytona 675R I actually preferred my Daytona 675R it felt more nimble and would you believe it better put together!! I'm not biased at all towards my bike just with it being a super sports i just felt more involved with the ride throwing it through the gears and chucking the bike about. Ive recently being looking at a lot of litre bikes 2016 ZX10R GSXR 1000 the 2017 obviously 2015 R1 but tbh I don't know whether I actually want one now 🤔 have you ever rode a Triumph Daytona 675R? If so id love to hear your thoughts if not would you consider trying one out id so love to get your feedback on it 👍🏻
