Great title for you to tell about your day and decision process. Loved you chaged your mind on how sure you were and still never gave any relevant information about no crank, or start issue. thank god I skipped through and only got snippets. have fun man.

So solution to you shade tree folks on here hoping to find why i5s sucming power like a bad alternator but your sure/already replaced the alternator so youre wondering why your mk1 HHR2006 -2011 is draining your battery as you drive STILL???? SO THE HHR Charging SYSTEM goes from alternator to the starter, then starter back to the trunk battery, and between the alternator and the starter its a fusible link wire, meaning too much load and it fries out. Replace that little length of wire and youre golden. YOURE WELCOME FOLKS

TLDR: I'm having a bad day I need to vent a little and now I don't know what to do with my car. Man you should really get a multimeter. You could tell if the battery has enough charge and you can tell if you're alternator is working proper.
