The end of this competition, was the beginning of Rich's legacy. "If not for that rope, I don't think I would be a three(fourth) time games champion" - Rich #Galatians6:14

And after 10 years we have a crossfit legend - Rich Froning 🏆
@170turbo10 жыл бұрын
These guys are amazing. They just keep going. Felt so bad for Rich, he was doing good, it was only his technique on the rope climb that let him down. Pretty amazing that he did it with no legs at all once or twice
@illycdr9011 жыл бұрын
Read his book? He thinks if he wouldn't have failed with that rope (ergo won the titel in 2010) he would not have won another title at all (source "First - What it takes to win" by Rich Froning).
@121HLy10 жыл бұрын
after a workout like that, you ask the competitors to climb a rope that high with no cushion??? Not safe in my opinion.

@ashleycostigan647712 жыл бұрын
and congratulations your ignorance just peaked. they are lifting light weights but there are also wods that involve heavy weights and little to no cardio. this wod had very little cardio but high endurance there is a massive difference.
@ashleycostigan647712 жыл бұрын
that TYPE of training not that exact training. you just go and do your deadlifts and your bench press and your squats 1-3 reps at a time and have a cup of tea during your 10 min "rest". crossfit doesn't need people like you.
@MindinMe11112 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats cool..i would do it. 5 heats is too real tho...gotta be in running shape. Must have cardio....this would be well for track athletes. This is how we train in the off season...5 heats is un real tho...man.

as impressive as it is I dont really think its a spectator sport? Maybe exciting for people who have an interest in an individual i.e. partner, relative etc but I lost interest as there is no focus.
@MegaUnavailableusern12 жыл бұрын
he didnt use his legs like what everyone else is doing, he didnt have the technique otherwise he would have won, try climb a 20ft rope with arms alone.

One thing to remember in this is the insane level of muscle fatigue they're STARTING this workout with, having done the rest of the competition before.

High Intensity, Interval Training (HIIT) is great. Crossfit is simply combining HIIT with functional/powerful movements. Many Universities and NFL Trainers are now implementing Crossfit into their routines because, simply put, it works. As far as athletes that were never good... Ask Knowshon Moreno or Paul Smith (NFL Running backs) about that. Don't knock it because you don't understand it. Oh, and muscles don't make a fighter (see Anderson Silva).

You don't understand the concept of getting the same results in the least amount of time. There is a difference between lifting the weight overhead with good form for building strength/muscle and lifting the weight overhead as fast a possible. If they did it the way intended to build muscle then they would lose this competition. If the weight was lifted overhead then it's lifted overhead. In 30 min these substandard athletes did more than you could do in an hour. Bet you can't even climb a rope
@ashleycostigan647712 жыл бұрын
well as a crossfitter unfortunately i have to agree 100% with you there. there are a lot of stubborn douchebag crossfitters out there but i bet you anything those are the ones who have never studied fitness properly. i have and still am studying fitness at tafe and i want it on the record i am not one of those douchebag crossfitters. i have clients that want to get bigger so i give them hypertrophy programs not CF i might do the occasional CF 1 a fortnight to help keep them conditiones though.
@Samarmy1111 жыл бұрын
thats not muscle building bible thats steroids.
@ashleycostigan647712 жыл бұрын
i agree to some degree. i am a crossfitter and a huge fan of the sport and have great respect for these athletes but i did find it boring to watch after the first 10 min. if they could put in some wods that were short and sharp i personally would much prefer that.

I am sorry but Rich got his ass beat, and beat badly!! not even one rope climb, now I am not saying this because I think I can do better, far from it, but i have seen the interviews about 2010 games, and Rich started strong, but it´s clear Grahm won clearly no doubt about his victory. That being said, Rich 3 time champ, so there you go, this is where that fire started to win those championships, i am sure he thinks of those ropes when he workouts.
