Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I have a 2012 F150 and I mainly have had this problem when out camping and the bed has been jammed full of camping equipment ... even harder to deal with a stuck tailgate and a Tourneau cover on it .... but you solved the mystery! It does seem to have only occurred so far for me only when there has been pressure from the load in the bed against the tailgate. I'm going to make these adjustments tomorrow, before it happens to me again and I look like a dumb dizzy blonde chick! (Well, you did confuse me on the "T-30" bit for removing the cover screws, but hopefully AutoZone or Harbor Freight can clue me in on what type of bit that is!) You're a sweetheart for posting this! Im glad you figured out the lock problem, I was gonna say how I fixed mine. I actually had to get a new lock cylinder and key it to the original key. Also the locking part was seized up like yours was. Now I use my tailgate lock all the time.

@@FixingWithPassion I got apart, fixed it. I really need to start videoing the whole thing. They taped and bed coated the opening over the handle mechanism. I cut that off, sprayed everything with WD-40 and it works. For my lock, I turned it hard to lock (to the right) it popped the hook part back into the lock and everything works now. kzbin.infogQ6EWNH8Xkc?si=YhRvxqvi9BhqXrzE

That used motor oil from oil changes comes in handy. All she needed is some oil and lovin and cable rod adjusting 👍🏻🇺🇲.

Thank you man, I got my tailgate latch fixed in like 20mins thanks to you. Only thing I need to do now is grease up the mechanism. Do you think WD40 of some sort would work? Don’t have too much old oil lying around in the city.

Just had that issue you’ll have to try and stick your hand under one of them to get it undone and the second one shouldn’t be a big problem
