Montoya could’ve won this race if it wasn’t for Edwards

always wondered how this finish would have played out if not for brads flip

Turbulence possibly caused Keselowski to crash, & the contact from Edwards was the thing that forced Turbulence on Keselowski himself.

Montoya was gonna win I remember I saw the yellow and screamed Noooo cause I wanted Montoya, then instantly went holy fuck!!
@AEMoreira812 жыл бұрын
I think so. Montoya would have caught Kurt Busch. This is also a part of why NASCAR has the 6 minute repair clock. If a repair can't be finished in 6 minutes (which includes making minimum speed once the race goes back green), the car is retired from the race.

I know that spinning someone out in revenge is a froened upon thing in nascar, but there was no way edwards could have expected keselowski to flip at atlanta of all places
@TonyStewartman1410 ай бұрын
Back then atlanta was one of the fastest if not the fastest track on the schedule up there with michigan. With no restictor plates It’s no surprise he flipped with the airplane wing on the back as much as I loved the look of it
@MMAGurusMom-zm3tn5 ай бұрын
it was deliberate, he knew he would flip because he turned him completely backwards on purpose
@tnwhiskey683 ай бұрын
Even if he didn't expect a flip, he was about to smack the turn 1 wall HARD if he didn't flip.
@SUPRAMIKE182 жыл бұрын
If that car hit the wall half a foot higher with a bit more rotation I feel like this would have been a fatal incident if not a career ender for Brad.

Carl comes down on Brad on lap 41 and then, wrecks Brad as payback for his error and killed that a top 10 finish.

He go parked for like 2 races if it was just a Little spin he could've keep going or if he landed on his wheels but he landed on his roof and roof collapse
@JBAlternate Жыл бұрын
Yeah, but it was also at a time where drivers were expected to lift to prevent a crash, especially early in a race. Driver etiquette was in a different place than it is today. Brad's moves were considered aggressive at the time but they look like what we're now used to seeing every week by every driver.

I can't believe back when this happened I cheered because Carl Edwards dumped Brad Keselowski...I'm ashamed I was at the time a Carl Edwards fan, and I'm ashamed I was also cheering when he crashed Brad at Gateway.

Edwards came down on Brad tho lol
@brandonowens31312 жыл бұрын
I'm not a Brad fan but, the fact is Edwards knew what he was going to do and exactly where to turn him. Carl had intentions on payback. The messed up part is Edwards doing this payback could've killed not only a driver but the fans as well.

@@brandonowens3131 Carl hit the catch fence. Brad didnt hit catchfence, he hit the wall almost upside down i think
@AEMoreira812 жыл бұрын
Carl Edwards was 40th, 156 laps down. Brad Keselowski was 6th, on the lead lap. NASCAR never looks kindly on when a driver many laps down takes out someone on the lead lap.
@KrazyKeith4 Жыл бұрын
That is true, but the question is, where do you draw the line? An incident like Kenseth vs Logano at Martinsville, where speeds are pretty low, the chances of someone getting hurt are pretty slim. But, Carl knew there was at least a possibility of Brad going airborne, as Carl experienced the same thing at around the same speed (likely slightly faster due to restrictor plates vs the intermediate tracks at the time being unrestricted). And yes, you could say that it's not Carl's fault for the cars going airborne despite all the flaps deploying like they're supposed to, but I believe NASCAR was trying to set an example of what not to do at faster tracks than anything else.

scary to think that if the corner of the SAFER barrier hit on the driver side roof just right it could have killed him.. dont even say that it couldnt have, otherwise the roof wouldnt have deformed like that in the first place if it was truly safe..

I've never understood why drivers expect other drivers to lift for them when they come down on them. Edwards did the same thing at talladega. If you're not clear you have to hold your position and if that means you gain a little lap time then that's what happens but if you're not fast enough to clear its not up to the other guy to lift for you
@JBAlternate Жыл бұрын
They don't really expect that today, but that was a different time. There was more respect for each other's race and overall well-being. Everyone expected each other to lift if a mistake was made to prevent ruining each others day or causing serious injury. - remember this was less than a decade after Dale died. The sport was heavily moving into a safer place.
