Can I just say for a girl who has replaced her Alternator by herself and fixing to do it again… this video I always come back to because the step by step is so much help when you don’t have help lol. I did learn that I need to take a picture of the position of the serpentine belt first before removing it cause I spent 3 hours trying to put that sucker back on. A whopping total of 12 hours removing and putting in another alternator. Hoping tomorrow I don’t spend 12 hour again replacing it lol. Thank you for your video!!!😊

Awesome Video, straight forward and clear on how to replace alternator. The 3 hardest thing you need know working on your on car in your drive way with no Car Lift, is knowing were the belt tensioner is, removing the bolts to alternator, specially removing the pulley to get to second bolt. KNOWING HOW TO GET THE OLD ALTERNATOR OUT OF ENGINE AREA. THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO GET IT OUT BECAUSE OF THE SIZE, I was trying for hours twisting and turning how get the old alternator out. Removing the the A/C 2 bolt to move out of the way, gives you plenty of room. I WISH I WATCHED THIS VIDEO BEFORE, WORKING ON THE CAR!!!! Awesome video! short straight to the point.

Thank you for your video, it saved me $400 by doing it myself. The belt tensioner was very difficult. no room to get a wrench or socket from the top and have enough leverage to retract it. After trying to get it from the top I was able to get a wrench on it from behind the wheel well by reaching up and getting the leverage needed to get the belt on. I suggest putting the belt on all except for the small pulley to the right of the tensioner. It was easier to slide on the small pulley once the tensioner was retracted.
@YuckFou0x0FFFF Жыл бұрын
That's because you're supposed to use a serpentine belt removal tool with short sockets. Anytime you're struggling way too much to do something with the tools you have during an R&R, you can bet your ass there is a specialty tool designed specifically for that task.

Thanks for the video bro. My alternator just went out on my 2013 Chrysler 200. How much àmp is needed or is there a certain amp voltage you suggest when replacing the alternator? I've been seeing a lot of amps with 115, 140, 160. Which amp output is required for the 200
@tracybrown15795 жыл бұрын
Stevo Moore it will depend on what model you have as some models have more electronics and will demand the higher amp alternator. I personally just bought the highest amp alternator that would fit. So as to be plenty for any future additions to the cars electronics.

Is the wire thats bolted on the factory charging wire or the ground?
@happy2bhere2day5 жыл бұрын
Not too a bad a job but could have been a bit easier on these cars. The idler pulley has to be removed by a 16mm socket on a 2013 Chrysler 200 Touring 2.4 L .Why ???? Also there was one 16mm bolt in the bottom left side of the alternator. Mine was equipped with the 140 amp.
@Dnelms114 жыл бұрын
How did you determine yours was equipped with the 140 amp and not the 115? Have to replace mine but don't know which one
