This is brilliant. I spent an hour pulling that liner out to change the PS fluid. Then another hour to put the liner back in. It was really annoying. I'm cutting a access hatch in the liner tomorrow. THANK YOU!

Very good tip really needed to find it. The only thing is is with cutting a door like that probably won’t work in the northern states like mine.

Luckily I have small hands and skinny arms. I did it without cutting a hole. Cut the top off a water bottle and sat it over the reservoir, which gave wider space to place my funnel. Then added the fluid.

I have a 2013 charger pursuit that has electric power steering does that mean no fluid just the pump?If so if it becomes harder for me to turn won’t I need to buy a whole new pump since I can’t just add fluid in?
@montanadiy32563 жыл бұрын
I believe it still uses power steering/hydraulic fluid. So the electric part is just a hydraulic pump that is run by an electric motor. So you should be able to add fluid, it may be in the wheel well like on this charger.

So mine is making a weird noise kind of like a winding sound when I turn the steering wheel left to right and it’s coming from my power steering pump you think this should be replaced have you ever heard of this issue before ?
@montanadiy32563 жыл бұрын
Power steering whining is very common especially on high mile vehicles but it could be that yours is low on fluid or maybe you need to replace the fluid. If I were you I would replace the power steering fluid and use Lucas power steering additive for about 1/4 of the total fluid.

I had the same issue for a second time now, its really a common issue in dodge charger 2011-2014, first time I changed the whole steering pump in the dealership in Oct 2019 and it costed me about 1600$ , and after almost two year exactly 2021 I've had the same issue and still going on and it become really heavy. changing it again will cost me alot. shall I try to change the fluid only? @@montanadiy3256

My 2013 dodge charger started to smell like burn plastic i try to keep all the fluids checked and refilled but i haven't done that with the power steering fluid you think that could be the reason i had a weird winning noise was coming out if the power steering pump ??
@pedrojr.8893 Жыл бұрын
That could be an oil leak, my 2012 charger had that odd plastic smell from leaking oil

Did your steering completely tighten up when that happened?
@montanadiy32564 жыл бұрын
Adding the OEM hydraulic power steering fluid to top it off won't tighten anything up much, it will however give you better control and power steering. However you may find draining your system and adding Lucas Power Steering Leak will help; this is what I use in my charger. As quoted by the manufacturer "Totally corrects rack and pinion problems. It is also totally effective in reducing slack, squeals and hard spots in worn rack and pinions.". Let me know if this helps!

Thanks. When you were on the road and you ran into problems, what happened? Did your steering lock up? Caz mine locked up and I’m wondering if it’s just low on fluid or the pump went bad.
@montanadiy32564 жыл бұрын
@@killingtimeslowly1 did it lockup completely or could you still steer but it was very hard to turn the wheels?
@killingtimeslowly14 жыл бұрын
Montana DIY i can still steer but it’s super super stiff. So i added in some power steering fluid and it was good for a couple hours but went right back to being stiff. Today is a holiday in my town so i guess I’ll take it into the garage tomorrow. Thanks for the info man.
@montanadiy32564 жыл бұрын
@@killingtimeslowly1 yeah, its most likely dumping your power steering fluid out somewhere. Mine leaks around the seals where the tie rod going into the rack. A very common leak pony in these cars is the reservoir where you add power steering fluid if you have yours in the same place as me, the seal where the white reservoir meets the pump leaks and you can get the reservoir and seal cheap.
