In this EPIC level of detail video we'll go over replacing the turbocharger assembly on the GM Ecotec 1.4L engine, in order to diagnose a failed state inspection due to an exhaust manifold leak noise. The Ecotec 1.4L turbo engine is found in the Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Trax and the Buick Encore. We will replace all of the worn parts with genuine GM parts and fasteners per the OEM service manual.
The vehicle shown is a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze ECO, but the procedure is applicable to any Chevrolet or Buick from 2011 thru 2020 with the Ecotec 1.4L turbocharged engine with regular production option (RPO) LUJ or LUV. The later RPO LE2 engine is different. The Chevy Trax and Buick Encore will require additional parts removal for access. These 1.4L engines can be found on the following models:
Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Trax, and Buick Encore
