It's a good thing they are set to replace it next year, however, if you are on the lookout for a good deal on a new or used one, we think it's still worth a look if you don't mind the cramped interior and somewhat "cheaper" materials vs its bigger Audi brothers.

He just doesn’t like this car and clearly didn’t research before giving his review/opinion. I used to have this car and would buy it again in a heartbeat. Mine had map pockets in the backs of the front seats and illuminated vanity mirrors and the s-line gets you a sport suspension. I didn’t think the steering wheel was old, still don’t get that reference. My ‘73 Chevy had an old steering wheel. The steering in the A3 is light but that simply means it takes less effort to turn. My BMW 3 series had heavy steering and was not fun to drive with a fractured wrist as it took 2 hands to turn at low speeds. Also, the round air vents looking cheap, really? The new A3, TT and some Porsches have round vents. This car is not a rebadged GTI. They’re both good cars that happen to share an engine and transmission. I think the light switch and turn signal stalks are also shared but they’re 2 different cars.

Sth_Euro Mk6 & B6 2.0 tdi for insane reliability. 2.0t for a more engaging drive

hi, i have a question, why the lights (back of the steering wheel) where is the current speed, fuel consumption, etc in some audis is WHITE and in others is RED? It depends on what? Or u can change it in every audi with a button?

YOU KEEP COMPARING IT TO A GOLF 5 MK5 gti THAT IS WRONG. This is comparable to the Golf 6 GTI and it is faster than the 6 . mine has flappy gear shifts no leather trim although quattro it is not an Sline. Sline is purely aesthetical.

I've driven the 2.0T Quattro version and loved it. I could live with what it has to offer. I do like the styling on it. I also would have liked to have seen a manual transmission available with Quattro like the A4. The interior is a reminder of the second generation A4.

Pretty sure you just reviewed the 2.0T not the 2.0T quattro ( the one with AWD). On the glove box entry; it has a nice "quattro" symbol engraved on the AWD version.

Just to clear up one thing. The steering wheel in that car is still used by Audi. And can be found in the 2013 a4 2.0lt technik.

I do own a MK6 GTI! Vids on my channel. I agree though, it sounds exactly the same as the GTI. I can't wait to see how the new A3 is, I'm crossing my fingers for a 3 door 6 speed TDI, but I don't think there's much chance of that coming here :(

It's simple in terms of features and the design but as with any German car it's very complicated under the hood thus it's still going to be expensive to fix even though this car doesn't provide the usual refinement a German car has.

If you get the a3 fully loaded with every option you then at that point have a luxury hatch , since the merc a class hatch isn't offered in America I can't think of any "luxury" brand that offers a hatch...the only reason to choose the a3 over the gti would be for bragging rights or the awd ,just to say you own an Audi other wise the gti is pretty much the exact same car...the new a3 sedan however is another story

Even if it is dated and horrible I would still drive it. Its the cheapest audi you can get and they offer great deals on them so honestly I don't expect much. I like the simplicity of it just like I do in my Volkswagens.

GTI is better value for money as it comes with standard Sport package. With A3 you have to pay extra for those options and wont get sports suspension nor bucket seats. You will need to upgrade to S3

A3 S Line has sports seats and harder suspension.

You can't compare an Audi A3 2.0 to a VW GTI. You can compare the GTI to the S3, though.

I didn't say German cars are for quick backyard jobs did I? What's the point in buying a cheapo German car, this A3, for a premium price when it will cost around the same to maintain as a proper German car like an A4 or equivalent or higher when it doesn't provide the same refinement higher up German cars have. Anyone who buys the Audi A3 is just driving it for the badge and not for the actual German car experience.

Yeah Audi is like the luxury version of Volkswagen. My dad has a 2012 Audi A6 with the 3.0t Superchange engine. that is his 3th Audi. And his lease will be up at the end of March or early April. And he wants to look at the all new 2015 Audi A3 and the A4. He wants to try to do a little down side next time. Also he wants to look at the new Mercedes Benz E350 too. But i think that he will get a other Audi!
