I love this! Am new to bowling...and a senior. I am starting with a cheap plastic ball. No core. This video shows the advantage of getting plastic with the pancake core. Better for learning a basic hook. Yet still good for spares.

I like these events where the bowlers have to use the balls that act differently from the ones they typically use. And Mark Roth, despite the aftereffect of the stroke, he still made a good throw. I imagine the crowd would've gone nuts if he got a strike!

300 with a white dot about 6 years ago bowling with JR's. 300 with Black Beauty in 94 on old wood lanes in Troy MO. still throw the white dot occasionally...just fine.

I love the Black Knight !! Smashed 801, no 300 fame with polyester yet. Probably psychological but I prefer the "legit" White Dot's. Nice job Tom!! Aside from making your shirt filthy, wonder what a rubber ball with a weight block would do??

woohoo....love old POLY... got a 82 year old buddy that bowls three leagues a week and averages 160 plus. throws a 16 lb Manhattan that is about 50+ years old.

In the left side you see a pattern but there is very light amount of oil so ball can hook.

Willeexd Early in the telecast Randy Pedersen claimed that the plastic bowling balls for this tournament contained pancake weight blocks. So according to Randy there were no special cores being used.

Ball manufacturer made that tournament go away real fast, simple you don't need a$200 ball to score. Friction is the key blue Dot will last for year's, Storm would go broke and there be no sheep 🐑

I also think they should let people use their own rubber and polyester pancakes if they have them. People don't want to drill a couple branded balls just for a brief outing.

They put half as much oil out there as usual so there would be a playable shot with the plastic and it dried up pretty quick under the TV lights

@@nickneff6926 Yeah, love still being able to bowl on our 1940-vintage wood lanes. Honor scores are most definitely earned there! Plastic, rubber, urethane all work well if you throw it the way it was meant to be thrown
