Just wanted to thank you Kevin. Watching this video enabled me to change the clutch on my 2010 T260 Transit last month. I also did the flywheel, ball joints and drive shaft seals at the same time. Saved myself hundreds of pounds in labour charges. Pretty hard going in the wet and the cold and it getting dark so early but I did a couple of hours a day for about a week and had it done! I regularly checked back on your video to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Bit harder with no Impact Driver (Oldskool!) and I wasn't strong enough to lift the gearbox back so had to jack it. Couldn't have done it without this brilliant video so thanks a million for sharing. A great advert for your services too. I wish you much success!

Man you must be loving your job , I've been fixing cars and vans for 40 years, saw you have a minute after getting the box back in , people don't appreciate what we do to our bodies heaving heavy parts dead weight off the floor back into their vehicles , do you like working in the rain , could do with another jack to take the weight of the g box take care of yourself when lifting , a proper job there , hope you charge properly for the job , don't throw away the clutch points , quite a lot of decent stuff on the Repexpert site , have a look if you're not registered with them , well done

Remember doing a few of these during the first few months when I started working at a shop back in 2014. One of them had an issue with the clutch master cylinder, it could not be bled from the new slave cylinder. It worked fine with the old clutch until the slave cylinder was replaced during the process. I was scratchin my head for an afternoon until I decided to order a new master cylinder for the clutch and behold it bled normally.

I work on busses mostly - not always.. Usually I do stuff everyone else has passed on as "Impossible". My "Videos" would start with taking off the wheel - whereby nothing would budge using any form of impact wrench below a 3/4" and even then it would be a struggle.. I use a 9' breaker bar on 3/4" sockets as everyone tightens bus bolts waaay over tight "just in case"/"Insurance"/Lawsuits.. From there on in, it would be very similar crawling around underneath, cold, wet, covered in muck that falls off, eyes full of dust & debris, working on heavy stuff no sane person ought work on. Anyone that comes in asks am I mad seeing the sheer graft that is involved daily doing even the routine stuff - which is why I like this Channel - it's a Graft Channel - and Graft these days is rare. It pays well - but you earn it. Nobody much does it for good reason - it's fairly straightforward, but far from easy. Kevs Channel is one you go to remember you could be grafting harder if you tried. No fancy words, no soundtrack - but if you know, you just know. THIS.IS.SPARTA! Shoutout to all the Mechanical Warriors. Keep on keeping on. No swearing allowed - it's inanimate metal, it won't care & was sent to test you. Don't fear the clutch - make the clutch fear You. If you're near Kevin & need a clutch - ring him. Consider yourself privileged to have such a great service to hand.

@davidlane57152 жыл бұрын
I was a Mobile Clutch Fitter for 30yrs, watching you gave me a little chuckle, that's how I would work, using my leg to operate the jack whiles removing/fitting gearbox, the only tip I can give you Kevin, 1, buy a big sheet of tarpaulin, back your van onto the vehicle with the back doors open, then clamp the tarpaulin to the back of the van, go straight over the car and tuck it in, you can then work without getting wet, plus you can then get things out of the van without getting wet, 2,Buy good thermal underwear (long johns). sadly your hands and shoulders will wear. Oh and 3, leave the vehicle running for as long as you can in the winter, just to take the sting out of the cold metal, other then that, all the best mate.

@redlineracing4947 Жыл бұрын
Wrench. Not needed but would do & always check torque specs. If it’s anything above the 100hp ones they all got the dual mass. Fuck the forums, go for the dual mass, puts less strain on everything & everything moves nice & smooth.

Al Dec thanks for the nice review. Red rubber grease stops oxidisation of metal to metal and it’ll definitely reduce clutch drag which is when the clutch plate gets stuck on the spline which is another cause for premature wear Brake cleaner is great for really washing out all the dust and any oil residue as it’s a solvent it air dry almost instantly.

Clear Flow Drainage LUK does the best heavy duty clutch kit for these engines. And SACHS manufactures the most reliable CSC(slave cylinder). This looks like a SAC clutch. I see you don´t use the SAC tool, but just an ordinary aligner. «Experts» says you should never install a SAC clutch due to the possibillity of «resetting» it. What is your experience? Do you need the special tool or can it be done safely without it? Is there any fallpits you should avoid? Love your channel btw.
@WMCS4 жыл бұрын
Geir Ove Tømmerbakk I’ve never used any other tool apart from this £10 clutch alignment tool .... I’ve seen some real fancy clutch tools worth about £600... At the end of the day all it’s doing is aligning the clutch plate to pressure plate. *One thing that you can do for free rather than use a high tech tool is to always tighten the clutch plate bolt oppositely with even pressure as you go along. All the clutch plate with wear adjustment won’t ever reset because they are locked until the engine has been started and it’s spinning over 1k revs. Thanks for your input on the channel. Much appreciated
