Hi Kevin, I see that the Land Rover gave you a few surprises the water which was trapped in the chassis leg. Also a lot of components to remove just to gain access to the gearbox. The 13mm short bolt just in the recess underneath the starter motor seems a pointless with all the other bolts securing the gearbox.🤔 But again with total precision you removed the box. It look like the clutch has been slipping for a while seeing the surface of the DMF facing and dust within the housing area. I think the look on your face once you got the box allocated back in was a sign of relief, my God I was thinking the same.😉 That's a heavy unit to pushing and turning at the same time. Again, you have demonstrated your skills and expertise within this field and anyone who requires a clutch fitting service within the demographics of Kevin's area should contact him with no hesitation whatsoever. Well done mate, an excellent job carried out. 👍👍👍

I did wonder why that shirt bolt was there. But looking through the video footage I think it’s to hold that plastic cover in place. The gearbox was heavy. And if you notice I had to put the wheel back on the other side so that I could spin the driveshaft so the spline could fall in place for the gearbox to slot in. But all in all it wasn’t a bad repair. It was a perfect day for it.

Hi Kevin , thanks for the brilliant video it really helped my do this job on my07 fl2. Without it , it would of took me much much longer . You make putting that gearbox back in look so easy fair play mate it wasn't as easy for me on my own . It's a bit like the d3 starter motor only goes in one way! Done about 7 hours today and GB and starter all on so not much left . These landies ain't so bad once you work out how to get at everything. I also have the d3 and I thought that clutch change was involved think I prefer doing that one now ! Wouldn't mind seeing you do a d3 clutch and flywheel also if you get a chance. Thanks again much appreciated for the best video out there for this job 👍
@WMCS2 жыл бұрын
D3 really straight forward. Just a bit heavy on deck the transmission is. I use to work for Land Rover stratstone a while back.
@kurts84992 жыл бұрын
@@WMCS with gd jack and high axle stands d3 lot easier to manoeuvre in , I get on back and use all 4s straight up and on much much easier. This side exit for the fl2 had me f in and blinding much more awkward. With the d3 TC off there not much in it weight wise. I had a feeling you had worked on landies before , how you know your way around that fl2 haha . Right I'm back at it this morning again thanks for the video it was priceless 👍

Hi Kevin. Just seen this video and wondered if you could answer me a question, I noticed when you put the drive shaft nut in was the shaft up to the end of the hub? I recently fitted new ball joints and removed the bolt to the drive shaft to get more access, when I fitted the drive shaft bolt I noticed the shaft wasn’t flush to the hub. Is this normal ? The bolt was tight (it’s on a Ford s max mk1) thanks. Keep up the amazing work.

Oooooh i spy the dreaded drain there, that and rolling sockets don't mix had it a few times, there is a drain close to where i work on vehicles and been a few times ive kicked or rolled sockets, spanners and screwdrivers down that drain it's not too bad recovering them with a length of 10mm bar with a neodymium magnet taped to it but with all the welding cutting and grinding i do when i drop a socket or something down there it comes back up with about 2lbs of filings before i retrieve my tool back lol

Hello, I watch your movies and I have a question, how is it that I have never seen problems with broken screws and other problems ... that something will break, it will break ... it never happens with you ... the shaft seal is leaking and then ... do you put it on ... you don't have it in place with you ... ???
@WMCS2 жыл бұрын
You always have to burn the boat when you land on new shores. Then there is no going back. So to answer your question. Bolts won’t break if you use lots of lubricants and are patient with it.
