2011 US Open Onepocket - Efren Reyes - Corey Deuel (Part 1)

One of the most exciting matches of the tournament ! It all came down to the final 4 balls, Corey needed 1, Efren needed all 4 of them. Action from the 5th round on the winners side. (Sorry for the loop of the intro music during the 1st 4 mins or so)

Thanks for posting, but in the future please refrain from posting the final game's last ball count in the description (or at least bury it further down). It takes away some of the suspense of the hour+ of action leading up to it.

One pocket is such a unique game! I haven't clocked in many hours on it but its interesting to see how creative players have to be in this chess match.

@memoryfish12 Each player is "assigned" one of the lower two pocket to make balls in to score points. The first player to score 8 points wins the game. If a player fouls he must replace one ball on the spot and deduct a point from his score. If a ball is pocketed in any other pocket it is spotted. Hope that helps.

in case of foul, what will happen to the white ball? will it stay in the same position or what?

one pocket is the hardest game even compared to snooker only because in one pocket most of your shots aren't played in any other game but one pocket, where as snooker is played with the same shots as all the other cue sports. That coupled with the amount of mental fatigue that is involved in one pocket just makes it exhausting and extremely easy to make a mistake.

@socaliguyhb absolutely agree. when you understand the game to a certain level, the game of 9 ball becomes a bit bland. sure many amateurs can not string racks of 9 ball together, but that is usually because of poor execution (but they know what the right shots are). one pocket is so complicated, it often isn't clear what the "right shot" is.

I have to add by reiterating that at 30:30 Corey shooting, it says 5-5 when the real score is 6-5 Corey. I mean look, there are only 4 balls left. What does that tell everybody ?

Re: Commentators on Corey's first shot. Not owing one is a marginal advantage compared to not leaving Efren an open bank. He meant to foul (to prevent the bank), and his cue ball control was so bad on that shot, he hit the ball before the rail and left the bank. But easy to mistake this for a good shot.

Wish they'd play on Brunswick tables or something. You can't bank accurately on a freaking Diamond. They're great tables until you have to hold a ball. You better plan on holding it a half diamond more than what you shot it.

basics... You only have one pocket to pocket balls into. If you pocket a ball in any pocket up table it gets spotted on the spot or behind a ball near it. If you pocket a ball into your opponents pocket they get the point. The break, the pocket you push balls towards during the break is your pocket. If you commit a foul you owe a ball. If you have no balls lol your score is negative. you might see pennies used to mark negative score. 8 points or balls are needed to win the game. Fun game.

One. Pocket. Not that hard to understand guys. Each player gets one pocket to shoot his shots in for the entire game. Game is played to a predetermined total. Only shots made into your pocket count as points.

One pocket you need all the other games to play onepocket well well including 3 cushion billiard ,straight rail,,baulk line,straight pool,snooker ect. onepocket way harder then chess in my opion just in shot selection alone let alone the skillz needed to make the shot. Intil you have some dude 4 moves ahead of you it's hard to understand.

@9LC But one pocket isnt a very hard game to execute at all. Its actually easier to execute the shots in one pocket compared to 9ball and eight ball. Snooker is obviously the hardest game to execute.
