Watching this really lowered my view of Scott. If you watch you can tell he's trying to shark Shane. He sits in Shane's chair while he was shooting in that direction. Wouldn't mark his fowls or spot up his owed balls like a player who respects the game would(which Shane did for Scott's scratch in the side)for his opponent. It's a game of self willing penalty and called fowl but Scott tried to get a win because he conceded a easy point for Scott. He even cried about hearing the commentators when he scratched. I enjoy watching One Pocket but I barely got through this one.

One pocket and 14.1 are the real billiards games. They take finesse, extreme shot ability, the ability to think 8 to 14 shots ahead and chess player like abilities. Most nine ball and eight ball players today would get chopped to pieces in these games. That is why most people do not like them because the have to think, practice, think some more and practice. I was amazing watching Steve Mizerak, Allen Hopkins, Nick Varner or Buddy Hall play. They had the most unbelievable ball control, placing the cue ball down to the 1/4 inch. Piece of advise for the take a longer shot or showier shot. That equals going home with empty pockets in any game.

nah, i play 9 and 8 ball. I use to play this one fellow who'd only like to play one pocket with me. And I suspect that was because he couldn't run out a rack. But he could shoot decently well with bank shots. It just depends on your preference. I personally don't think one pocket is a well designed game. bonus ball is a lot better.

I wish they would play games in an All-star sort of fashion. Playful games without money or reputation on the line. A way to show off their skill without actually risking anything. I know they could speed these games up if they were sure they could make the tricky shots that keep making themselves available. Just sounds like a more entertaining style of pool.

@robertfrydell4998 жыл бұрын
This is a game called "One Pocket". Generally considered the most difficult pool game. Each player has "One Pocket" to shoot at - one of the corner pockets by the rack. You try to make balls in your pocket while risking if you miss do you leave a shot for your opponent into their pocket? A good safety type shot is to move balls to your side while leaving the cue ball near their pocket. First player to put 8 balls in his pocket wins.

(NOT BEING PROFESSIONAL lets shane spot the balls and let him spot only 2 but he comes and checks the balls that shane put on the table 3" he calls the ref on shane because he conceded the game! If we had any leadership in our governing body s it would be ILLEGAL to use any different color balls in any sanctioned tournament. This game is much more about position than potting ability. It's not worth risking a pot cause your opponent might run the table out. The reason why people compare the game to chess is because the two games have similar strategies. You want to do multiple things with each shot. with each safety shot, you also want to slowly move the balls closer and closer to your own pocket or into advantageous spots on the table. Most people find it too slow because they don't have the patience for the subtle nuances of positional play.

The color changes on the balls are to make them more easily discernable on TV. The old, darker colors made it hard to distinguish between them for the viewers, especially in rotation games where the balls must be played in order.
@charlesfair15825 ай бұрын
Well,they have emphatically,obviously failed. Worse than the pink four ball which also was a blunder. Leave the colors alone. Use better cameras!

It probably depends on the particular tournament, but I think such fouls are often disregarded in 1P. I remember someone saying that about another match.
@trumanhw9 жыл бұрын
The one thing I'll say about the cyclop balls is that they're fewer colors that are so dark that it's difficult to see the edge when it's against the rail. I'd prefer the 8 ball were grey, or which and black checkered so I could see the edge.

I do not like how Scott wanders around the table after his shot looking at balls. He should go sit down after his shot, and then he can look at the balls when it is his shot. Scott is a bad loser and a poor sport, he gets mad when he makes a mistake or misses a shot, and he even blames the guys on commentary, or the table, or he says he got a skid, he has a million excuses, and he is very unprofessional at times. The guys on commentary say the player will shot a shot 5 different ways, then the player does one of them, and Scott claims they coached the player on what to shoot, give me a break. Does he think Shane needs to be coached on what shot to shoot, get real man. Scott is a poor sport with a bad attitude. Shane is the best player in America with a fargo of 829, so I doubt the guys on commentary can coach him on any shot Shane has not already seen and thought about 5 times.

At 16:30 Shane passes up a common one-pocket shot that he should have shot. The 10-ball carom-banks towards his pocket while the stripe ball its frozen to 2-rails towards his pocket. A big mistake not to shoot this especially considering he was behind at that point. He just hasn't learned the game very well.

If a player breaks a rule that goes against their opponent then they should be called on it. Scott calling the ref because Shane broke the "no concede" rule at the end of a game is just cry baby bullshit. Scott Frost lost some respect from me on that one. Rules are rules. Always know the rules... If not, suffer the consequences you may. Knowledge is beneficial. Announcers were right, if you're going to enforce them you have to be consistent. If you're not going to enforce it, then what's the rule there for? Does no good to have it. No matter what. Scott Frost was total class. Gave the referee full respect. When the ref made the ruling, he moved on, and played it out all the way to the end. Great match Truly enjoyed watching

wishmasterbrazen Curious people ask questions, they don't instantly insult the game. From what you said, you only know 8-ball (or blackball). That should put you in a position of humility, given they are the easiest games of pool around. Especially concerning one-pocket, which might very well be the hardest game you can play on a 9". Curious people are humble. Curiosity is humility towards the complexity of the world. That kind of curiosity is what led to science. Insulting religious people when you lack the qualities that makes a scientific person is paradoxical. In short, STFU, n00b.

***** I play 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball, snooker, . And have been playing for 4 years, i was just curious.. And yet in your statement itself you are saying curiosity is a good thing. So why is me being curious not a good thing? Your entire comment contradicts itself :/ I was the one asking a question, and my insult to the other guy was simply because he was insulting me for absolutely no reason, all because i simply was curious about this game. And then went on to learn how to play it. Also" stfu noob'"? seriously? how old are you. -_-. That has to be the most immature insult i have ever heard .
@enough_b10 жыл бұрын
wishmasterbrazen Simple thing, really : Curiosity : I have never seen this game of pool. How does it work? I'm used to ball-in-hand. How come this game doesn't have it? Being a smartass know-it-all : huh i have never seen this type of pool? no ball in hand for hitting opponets balls?.. random almost unfair lol See how the first one asks questions relative to one's subjective knowledge, while the second passes a judgement on the game immediately, although the author doesn't even know how the game works? It's simple, really. As for the immaturity of my outro : lol, umad, bro?
@enough_b10 жыл бұрын
wishmasterbrazen Here is a good example, for educative purposes : You're watching your 9-ball videos, when a wild 8-ball-only-player appears : "lol never seen this game. why so few balls? they too bad to play with full set lol? also it's harder to see which set is which." How do you react? Honestly.

Possession is 9 "PARTS," or "points" of the law, not 9/10ths.. lol.. The origin of this phrase comes from Old English law, meaning there were 9 different writs the King set forth to define property ownership.. These eventually evolved into property ownership laws, and eventually there were those who completely misquoted the proverb, which is why we now have the incorrect Americanized version, "possession is 9/10ths of the law," which is completely incorrect..
