So when Djokovic started beating both of them everybody was mad because they only wanted to see Fed and Nadal win. Also, Djokovic is way more emotional on the court. He shows his anger and tennis fans hate that.

Think about Roger's position here. He just lost a us open semi final to his second biggest rival after having two match points. You think he's gonna be all cheery and happy afterwards? It was very clear in Djokovic's demeanor before that forehand winner that he was angry and did not care much anymore. As a result, he decided to slap the ball as hard as he could to see what would happen. I'm not sure how much tennis you've played in your life, but most people can relate to that feeling. Roger put it well in his example from juniors tennis. Some people get angry when they're about to lose and just start bashing balls, and sometimes it works. Seeing as how Roger personally disagrees with that type of mentality, it's obvious why he'd be a little ticked off. What exactly is your problem with his comments?

Respect your rival, accept that he just made one of the best shots in tennis history, and move on. Second, comparing one of the biggest players at the moment to junior players in terms of mentality is wrong in so many ways, no need to explain. Third, Djokovic played better in the end. It didn't "all go in for some reason". Problem is he can't accept that the other player was better. Fourth, Djokovic did it three times. The reporters kept asking about that particular part of the match and fed explicitly said he accepted the loss, that its in the past, and that he is moving on. 2. What's wrong about that comparison? Many professional athletes, not just tennis players, have mentalities comparable to 16, 17, 18 year-olds. I get that he's a top level adult athlete, but that doesn't mean he's a robot. We're all human here. 3. Never said he didn't play better. And yeah, maybe fed's choice of words "all go in for some reason" is a little extra, but he wasn't trying to say all of novaks shots from that point on were "going in for some reason". He was just elaborating on his example of a bitter, angry junior player who starts slapping every ball trying to hit winners when they feel they've lost the match. I think Fed knows that's not what novak did for the rest of the fifth set. He's just saying that the return winner, which gave novak new life and sparked the comeback, did come as a result of that particular mentality. Fed almost always gives credit to those that beat him and he compliments their game. But when it was this close and he literally had the match on his racket, its tough not to feel like you should have won. 4. Djokovic is absolutely better than anyone in terms of mental stability and focus. But that particular moment where he hit the return winner was like a "screw this match, let me smash this return and if it goes in, awesome, if not, whatever". His facial expression before the return says it all. 5. Again, you're misinterpreting novaks mental state. Of course he had confidence and focus from that point on, but the reporters question was about the return winner. Careless anger, not confidence, was the overwhelming state of mind for that moment. Sure, he wasn't being a class act here. Doesn't make his comments wrong though.

I just want to say something regarding Federer that has to be said. Federer here literally sums up everything about him and all the stigma regarding his "class" and "sportsmanship". Federer had the easiest way possible out of all tennis player. He is easily most loveable western world media darling and gold cow for making money. He was made throughout the years like that. His tennis skills are not questionable. He is still strong contender to be the GOAT, BUT! But, as i said, he showed up in a very crucial moment in tennis history, after Agassi and Sampras, where tennis needed some new star, some new role model, some new figure to pump out those monies. He was the perfect man for it - Swiss passport, British roots, South African roots, world man from rich representative country. Everything fits perfect. Add to that his immense talent and dedication and you have perfect man or should i say - "Trophy wife". Later, the more time went passing by, and him winning everything, the media and public went even more crazy towards him. It was everything super easy for him. He was unquestioned about anything. They LOVED him, and they cashed in on him and he cashed it on them. This created super easy atmosphere for Federer to have "Class". How to not have class when you have everything? You have all media and public consolidating you after you lose. You have everyone just patting your back and looking after you drop out of tournament or injure yourself. He had literally EVERYTHING. More than any other tennis player ever. He was not just best tennis player ever, he was public and media icon. They cared for him, and everyone loved him. And then Nadal happened, starts winning. And then rivalry happened - ok. But then something else happened - third person, unwanted person enters the game. He wants to prove himself, he wants to win, he wants to be the best (as everyone else). This totally ruined the concept. Everything that was easy and in favor to Federer was the opposite for Djokovic. Here Federer reveals his "class", this is just a tiny glimpse of his anger and frustration when he realized he is flawed, his facade starting to peel off. This is the exact point of all the stigma that is floating around Federer everywhere. He is just a salty player who cannot cope that better defeated him, and in what way? He risked whole tournament based on that return. And Federer cannot understand that? That is because Federer didn't have to do it, he was always in safe mode, playing his best level of tennis, but that's it, never needing to prove someone something. Which both Nadal and Djokovic had to do (Djokovic the most out of all three). This is really sad, i wish this conference would be shown to everyone everywhere all the time, just for the sake of it. For masks to fall down, and then to judge these three tennis players only on real facts. This is not class. It's easy to have class that way. The class is to have almost everyone against you, watching your every move and mistake, crashing on you, while you keep winning and praise others. Djokovic never disputed Federer, and never disputed Nadal, despite everything. In my opinion Djoko showed class more than any other player. Time will tell.

Yes and no, as he said, he was not used to face match point in GS during his career, but Novak definitely was, and is to the credit of Federer that he was seldom in that situation. Is very important that observation to understand his future mental failings at GS, is ironic, but he was so dominant like no one else in the history, dispatching rivals as fast as he could in GS that obviously he just didn't give himself the opportunity to develop a strong mentality when down in the scoreboard, by contrast Nadal and Djokovic faced match points enough times in all kinds of rounds of GS (before and during their prime) to develop that mentality

Majestic King by spitting at the crowd? Breaking racquets when he’s losing? Calling timeouts when he’s down everytime? He’s a clown. When do you ever see Nadal say anything like this or act like an idiot on court? He’s never broke a racquet in his life. He always gives his opponent credit. Federer got pissed off because he lost 2 straight years to the same guy in the same situation, up 40-15. He’s going to be in a bad mood, but he took this a little too far. If it was me I would have said congrats to novak, job well done, and move on. Him and Nadal don’t like Djokovic’s ego because it’s a disgrace to the game of tennis. Nadal would haven’t have acted like this because he’s always positive and a good sportsman, Federer is a good sportsman most of the time, but I think where he was dominating from 03-10 he let the fame and glory get the better of him after he didn’t win a slam that year.

Djokovic was never once disrespectful to Federer while on a tennis court, never bad mouthed Federer in any post match press conferences unlike Federer who did plenty of times to Djokovic. Federer even told Djokovic’s corner to shut up once while on the court. Djokovic despite his outbursts in the past on the court and a few racket breaks, he never once directed it towards his opponent, so what you said doesn’t apply because it’s how one is in defeat that determines the true character of someone, not when in a match and having a great desire to win so they get angry sometimes. Djokovic was always humble in defeat as he was in victory unlike Fedal who were always sore losers.

I don't understand why Federer explains it like the only shot that mattered was that return at 40:15. Even if that shot was pure luck, he still had 1 more match point and was still serving for the match. Even after the second match point, he was still serving at 40:40 and had a chance to finish it. If you crumble every time someone saves one match point with a lucky shot and can't progress in the match (considering even when he lost his serve, he was still leading in the match and had every chance to at least get to a tiebreak), then your criticism should be pointed at yourself.

It's true that none of us know what it is like to lose a grand slam semi in that fashion, so it's hard to say what is an appropriate reaction. However, we do see other top players on the tour lose devastating matches on every year and I believe it is at least a valid opinion that in this instance, Federer was a pretty shitty loser.
