Ugh they always do that with gymnasts, and even athletes in other sports as well. Nobody cares unless you win gold. In 2008 it was all about Nastia and Shawn, even though four other girls won an Olympic medal in gymnastics for USA. Same thing happened in 2004; it was all about Carly Patterson because she was the only one of the team who won a gold. It's stupid, a silver medal is a huge accomplishment but the media acts as though it's worth nothing.

Omg and she's s ooo stoic, you KNOW When she falls back & lets out that moan/scream.... sue had to have been in some SERIOUS PAIN.... I don't know why I'm literally the ONLY PERSON I KNOW who has had a serious knee injury (fell off my young horse when cross country jump schooling a pretty high level combination straight to a big down bank drop into the water back when I was about 18??) And I completely "popped" aka 100% severed my PCL- POSTERIOR cruciate ligament- ACL is your ANTERIOR- the 2 form an X behind your knee to support your knee joint along with your meniscus... I even remembver hearing as well as feeling that SNNNNAAPP/POPPP!!! Even through the nasal bone crunching I also did when after 1st landing on my completely bent left knee cap- which pressed my shin bone back so far behind my knee, it completely tore my PCL in two in one fell swoop- but immediately AFTER smashing down on my knee, and severely spraining my stupid left ankle for my 3rd time in 5yrs- I then did a face plant straight into the sharp, 2" gravel chunks that made up the bottom of & edges of the water complex. Thank goodness for the fact that I had a relatively strong, fixed visor on my helmet that took at LEAST SOME of the impact for me, so, I d8dbt lose any TEETH that day & only broke my nose & got som e GNARLY road rash on just about 80% of my face from about my eyebrows down.... my visor level & above escaped cleanly! Haha. But, man.... those kinds of knee injuries are such a VICIOUS, INSTANTANEOUS, SHARP PAIN... u don't have to know anything about medicine or human anatomy to feel that kind of snapping as one of your joints goes in a direction YOU KNOW it SHOULD NEVER GO & U feel that pain & instantly know "AWWWW CRAAAAP, THAT WAS BAD!!!! I'M NOT 100% SURE WHAT IT WAS BUT IT WAS BAD!!!!" I got hecka lucky though- completely severed my PCL but, the Dr said a completely severed PCL would cause me less grief than a partially severed one... and, since my ACL, meniscus & knee cap were in tact.... I just was supposed to take 8wks off from riding & then I'd be good- at least for the next 10-15, MAYBE 20+ years even?! Its been about 14yrs since i did that & my knee still feels a little wobbly & looser than it should, but, heck. I'm still the ONLY PERSON I've ever known of to suffer a complete tear of her PCL ligament & required zero surgery or even any PT!!! (ANNnnnd.... i was back on my horses again in just about 3 1/2 weeks.... because, come on, NONE OF US EVER REAAAALLLY listen to those sorts of "doctors orders," right!? Right!!!!)

Some poor coaching decisions were made regarding Rebecca Bross. This injury was just a matter of time the way she was going. You cant have that many falls and not have an injury sooner or later especially with that level of difficulty. She should've watered down her routines to be able to perform them confidently and built up her routines back up from there. The beam dismount for example, she wasn't making it all week in training Tim said, so what makes you think she's going to suddenly pull it out the bag in competition?

@heathermiller764 жыл бұрын
Give me any amount of actual proof that the Karoly's did anything wrong.... Most gymnasts PARENTS were in the room AS THEIR CHILD WAS ABUSED & they even had no idea yet You expect the Karoly's did & hid it? American Gymnastics would've been nothing without them. They don't deserve people like you trying to take that away...... Mary Lou, Kim Zimeskle, Nadia etc, all took up for them and said the abuse allegations were absurd.... These were people trained by them, not just the ones that came and went & were pissed they didn't get chosen..... The one little girl, Dominique, that was trained by them & said they were abusive, was dumped by the Karoly's though she did great in the Olympics.... She came out with all this bull much later. She was dumped because Bella talked about his pain realizing that she wanted fame far more than a furthering gymnastics career. She refused to practice & put all of her time into her 15mins of fame.... When that fizzled, time had not been kind and no one wanted to work with her. Y es,the Karoly's were strict and hard, but do you really think an Olympic Champion can be build without strict dedication, hard work etc? These kids weren't forced.lol! They wanted it and loved gymnastics. People like you don't know what it takes so you sit back and judge..... It's disgusting that you degrade them with absolutely no substantial proof..... None.
@LaurynElizabeth4 жыл бұрын
Heather the district attorney for the Karolyis’ district in Texas DECIDED not to pursue criminal charges against them BEFORE all victims came forward. There is reason to believe they knew about the sexual abuse but didn’t do anything about it, and there is legitimate evidence of child abuse and neglect that the gymnasts suffered at the ranch. Stop defending people who allowed abuse

Heather the gymnasts said they spoke about it openly in the gym so there’s no way Marta didn’t know. Even the assistant coaches said they overheard the girls talking. The Karoly’s said nothing because their Romanian gymnast culture was grind to the bone and don’t let then rest, and Nassar would give the shortest recovery time for injuries. They were complicit. You don’t need ‘proof’, you believe the girls and coaches. Someone’s word is enough to prosecute when it comes to sexual assault.

I think gabby has a real shot but I'm a little more hesitant with Aly. She hasn't been as strong or consistent as Gabby recently.

At around 0:59 Tim said that Alicia costed the USA team the gold medal, but that makes me so mad, because the margin between China and USA was more than 2 points, and back then, a fall was only worth 0.8 deduction. So mathematically, Alicia could not possibly have costed the USA team the gold medal. The Chinese would have won it either way.
@tre99522 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Cheng Fei fell once and Alicia fell twice. They kind of had a chance.

I feel so bad for the other gymnasts. If my teammate injured herself like that I'd be freaked out. I wouldn't even be able to compete. It just proves how mentally and physically strong these athletes are

Aly going on beam right after has to be so scary . She did the best she could. Everyone was shaken up. These ladies are so mentally tough

it’s just a leg roller, a lot of athletes use it to roll out their muscles to prevent them from tightening up or to loosen them up if they’re tight

God I forgot how brutal Rebecca Bross’s choreography is. You can tell she hates it. They should take out the music for the women and make it like the men.
