Its not that bad if your nervous about it. The hardest part for me was getting the vent off. I broke the top tab off and the lower part of the housing. Brittle area, so go slow. Everything else is super easy.

great job, but i seen i a utube video where they didn't take the asembly out like you, he replaced it with it still attached to the column is that possible?i wonder what you dont have to remove (like the intermediate steering shaft) if you dont want to take the hole unit out, correct? toyota dealer wants 700$ omg

Were you able to keep the steering wheel from spinning and when reinstalling made sure the steering shaft lined up exactly? If not there's a chance to spiral cable/squib/ clock spring may have broken. If the horn and steering wheel controls still work then next question would be if steering is centered? Would recommend beginning with scanning for codes and seeing what tripped.

I took me a cople of hours iam dont have to much experience but it works doing it the way you said. At the and i just had problems with the aligment eve tho i put it on the same mark i dont know why. But i not to much . I think if i take it to an aligment it will work as it was again with sTraigth steering wheel

Toyota needs a recall on this. a $10 dollar part, made out plastic, that breaks down easily.

Does the part number in the desc. fit LE? Everywhere only says it fits SE. Cant wait to get rid of the clicking, its been going on since i bought the car 2.5 years ago 😅

Never tried with it in the car, seemed so uncomfortable to even attempt. As long as you don't turn the steering wheel and keep the steering colum to intermediate shaft lined up its very straightforward

@jorllgugfyhlkrtipuii make sure you either line it back up the same way you removed it, or at least close enough to avoid damage to the clockspring. You may have to have the vehicles alingment checked after.

I did this in an hour and a half without taking out the steering column. Only if you’re experience you can do this fast.

@Ricky_Rocha it can damage the clock spring/squib. Which is how the airbag, horn and steering wheel controls communicate with the rest of the car. So you'd have an airbag warning message, horn wouldn't work and steering wheel media controls won't work. Along with the alignment being extremely off. Pretty expensive part to break so it's important to be careful and not spin it.

@@peterbuilt3929 thank you for the reply. Maybe that’s not what’s wrong with the car. My airbag light is not on and horn and buttons are good. The power steering red light is on and it’s hard to turn. The ground cable under the dash is connected and ok. What could it be? Any suggestions will help. Maybe a specific fuse? Will appreciate another reply.

@Ricky_Rocha are you able to scan for fault codes? Because if those weren't on before there's a possibility of many things. First to mind for the airbag is the center airbag may be unplugged or the insert not seated all the way, same for the knee airbag. The red power steering light may simpley be unplugged/ not connected all the way. A code reader would be extremely helpful

@@peterbuilt3929 I got one from harbor freight for $40 but no info came back I guess but since it’s not a check engine light it didn’t find anything. I just thinking if it could be maybe a wire that’s disconnected or so. Maybe a fuse. Where would that wire be more or less for the one you said about the red power steering light icon?

@Ricky_Rocha could be the connector that goes to the steering column a beefy connector and set of wire, make sure their clicked in. Above that would need the vehicle because this is just guessing

@DavidStodard sorry about that, the one time I pointed a camera at it, it took so long to happen I was a bit frustrated with it. If it helps it's a light knocking noise. Often confused with suspension but it's loud in the interior.
