Next time you should put a clamp on the brake hose and push the brake pedal halfway down with a poll on the driver seat that’ll create a vacuum and won’t let any brake fluid leak out or air in.

I usually put a flat wise-grip on the brake hose , so it will not allow the fluid to come out or air in. Obviously something between the wise and hose so will not get damaged

Tried to order a left rear caliper from Advance Auto, NAPA and Autozone and was told by all it is not available for my 2015 Passat SE built in May 2015.
