Thanks for posting! Based on your videos I ordered one for our 2016 CRV Touring edition. The Touring comes with the old touchscreen radio, which I hated. But the good news is that the harness from Joying works right out of the box with the Touring, no need to solder any camera wires to get the backup cam on the main screen. I did have to fiddle a couple things, Joying was awesome answering questions within hours. These were the main 2: 1. There was no sound at first. Solution was Settings->Device->Sound->AMP ON/OFF set to ON 2. LaneWatch didn't work out of the box. Solution was to go into the Vehicle Settings app (not Settings!), go to Compass Set, and click the green check box for "Turn right enter camera". Also, Joying confirmed that there are a few (I counted 3) connectors for the Honda radio that are abandoned in the Joying wiring harness. I don't know what those things did on the Honda radio, but I'm not noticing any missing functionality yet. Some minor tweaking: - The Apple CarPlay resolution is really low, much lower than what the head unit supports for native android (and much lower than CarPlay on my volvo which has a built-in Android head unit.) I was not able to adjust that, but I have email in to Joying to find out more. - On the flip side, I found the native Google Maps app was too high res to see at a glance on a 9" screen, and generally everything was a bit smaller than I liked. I googled around and found this fix: - Settings -> Developer Settings -> Smallest Width. It was set to 800; I tried 480, but 600 is what looked good for me. - I'm trying to get rid of the Songs widget from the homescreen, can't figure out how to do that.

I was able to install it super easily! I absolutly love it! My only problem is the top screen now is an hour later then what the time should be, and my car options won't let me change the time at all with the steering controls. It's also stuck in military time which isn't a big deal but the hour difference is. The clock on the Joying display is correct and I so far haven't been able to change it on the top screen at all. Thanks, largely to your videos, I have this unit up and running in my 2014 Honda CRV EX -LN. It truly ends up being plug-and-play. The biggest thing I had to overcome was my concern that I had more factory plugs than Joying harness connections. After I calmed down I figured they may have been for the CD player and fan in the Honda unit. I didn't do any enhancements with a subwoofer but I did run an extra USB port to the glove box. The hazard light button needs a bit of tweaking since when the unit is mounted flush, the button won't release. Going to go through the menus set things up to my liking and decide if I want to install the external mic. Not a fan of messing around near the side airbag so I will give the built-in mic a lot of leeway. Before this, I was using the Honda unit and a dash-mounted unit to supplement. The Joying unit makes everything look much cleaner on the dash now. Thanks again for doing these videos especially with us low-teck DYI'ers.

One thing I noticed is that on my stock dash (where the gas mileage is displayed), I cannot adjust the time on the clock. I can press the menu button on the steering wheel and navigate to the different clock settings, but when I try to change the time, it just "dings" but nothing happens. Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

hey i have a 2015 crv with the blind spot camera along with rear camera, would this system work with blind spot camera, i checked the wiring harness for my spec that joying sells along with the unit and i see 2 yellow video wires which i believe is for the 2 cameras but the back of the head unit has only one yellow plug, thanks for the help

From your experience would you rather get a Joying unit, or a Kenwood , Alpine, Pioneer etc unit? Thinking of getting a Kenwood dmx8021dabs unit, but looking at this, I wondered whether it could be an option as well. Am I wrong to believe that the Kenwood unit will likely produce better sound? I own a Honda CRV 2017 EX 2.0 UK gen 4 model. Guess that is a 2016 in the US. My current unit has satnav and is Android 4.0.4.

Kenwood makes good stereos and are out of the box great. This Joying stereo is way more customizable and does sound just as good as any Kenwood I have ever had. Joying is the premier Android based head unit and top tier. I would put them up against any Kenwood/JVC, Pioneer, or Sony unit.

Don't have a video, sorry. But you just have to run RCA cables from the sub output on the stereo, along with a remote wire to the sub from the "amp" wire on the back of the Joying harness. You also need battery power and ground for the subwoofer amp. Where you get the power and ground depends on how big of a subwoofer amp you use. Most people run it directly from the battery, fused at the battery.

Yes to both questions. Backup camera takes some custom wiring as shown in my other video, but isn't hard.

This would work, but the volume button would be on the left side. Not sure if that is a problem or not. This unit supports Apple CarPlay which allows you to control apps and music and navigation on your phone from the head unit.

Hello! I recently bought the same navigation system for a Honda CR-V 2016. I connected it, it works, but there is no sound in the car. Some cables do not have plugs for the radio. Can you please tell me what the problem might be? And one more question; The image from the rear camera on the old navigation system shows better than with the same camera on the new one.?

Since you didn't list the trim level of your car I wouldn't even know where to start to provide advice. You should probably reach out to Joying. I am in no way affiliated with them and they can provide after sales technical support specific to your case. It's probably something plugged in incorrectly. The display on the joying stereo has a much higher resolution so the crappy backup camera from the factory is going to not look as good. The factory head unit had a low resolution display to match the low resolution camera. Hopefully that makes sense.

All things considered, would you go for the 9 inch or newer 10.1 inch model? Mostly going to be using it for CarPlay. The 9 inch definitely looks more factory, but I imagine an extra inch of screen real estate would be nice to have. What are your thoughts? Considering 4GB Ram models for either.

Both are great..the 9 inch does look more factory and since they have the same resolution the 9 inch has slightly better clarity. I personally prefer the 9 inch one but could love either one.

@@ianmcclymonds6912 No power drain issues. If the car sits for days and the car battery starts to get low, the unit will shut down completely and will have a longer boot up when you turn it back on. You can adjust this to an extent. It works flawlessly out of the box.

I don't think there are settings to boost it. I rarely use the mic so don't have much info on it. Maybe try plugging in the external one and see if it helps

I have a few questions (I have a 2014 Honda CR-V). 1. Could I connect the factory microphone in a similar way as you have done with the reverse camera? Or is it some strange connection? 2. Do you know if the extra speakers that are mounted near the mirrors on the doors of some models would work with this? Would I have to split the connections or does Joying have a different harness for my model? 3. Can I remap any of the buttons on the steering wheel? I would want to use Google Assistant in Android Auto and would like a voice command button on the steering wheel, but since it is difficult to get the factory voice command button to work, could I remap something like the source button to do it? Can't remap controls. You most likely could use factory mic. It's 2 wires going into the iMid screen. The door tweeters do work plug and play

Thanks for the video man! Just ordered a cheaper unit yesterday, but I might have to return and get a Joying. Question for you - I’m a big Apple person. So much so that I almost bought a new car last week in order to get CarPlay. I opted to replace my stereo instead. How much can you speak on the CarPlay abilities on this? I've seen some people who install after market units say that CarPlay only works for a few hours and then never seems to work again.

On the Joying units it works flawlessly and very well. They have high resolution CarPlay that looks much sharper than most factory units. I can't speak for the cheaper one you bought. Usually the cheaper Android stereos have less ram and crappy processors and the lag and system hangs make them an unpleasant experience.

No need to pay extra. It comes with everything you need as far as I know. It does have an aux input for a front camera. May require some settings adjustment. I would contact Joying directly for a final answer

I’m about to take the plunge on purchasing this based on your excellent videos. I have 2014 CR-V EXL (no nav). I want to keep the factory amp/ subwoofer/speakers. I know I’m giving up XM (unless I use the app 😊), but with this model do i have to splice anything or do I simply turn the internal amp on in the settings? Also do I have to splice to get the camera to work on both? If I don’t splice, just the small imid screen still works? I want to make sure Joying sends the correct harness. Their ABC matching for the radio is not exact. My 2014 factory radio has 5 plugs…the pic from Joying shows 4 I think. Thanks in advance!

First….thank you for the videos! I just installed this exact radio in my 2014 EX-L. Factory amp and sub work great. Tapped into the factory camera as you instructed. Works perfect (quality of OEM camera stinks lol). I am running into one issue and it’s with the radio bezel itself. I cannot get it to sit well. The bottom clips won’t slip in. Don’t see anything blocking it. In fact I took off the mounting plates and hooked the screen direct to the single din. I have been wrestling with this for 2 hours already! I transferred all of the clips (except the red ones). It almost seems like it’s maybe not tall enough or the mold they use is off? Any ideas?

Great video, if your first install on this car you had to use smaller screws to get the emergency button to line up correctly. Question: I installed a similar unit on my 2017 CRV. Canbus seems to be working for most features, however I am unable to manipulate the vehicle maintenance info. I know where to find it in the head unit but it just doesn't show it. It goes back to the home screen. My question is simply does your unit allow you to do it? My vehicle reminders are stacking up on the console screen for oil changes and such and I am not able to clear any of them. I have contacted the manufacturer and get no luck.

Great video! I have been wanting an upgrade for my 2014 CR-V and you have convinced me this is the way to go. I do have a few questions if you don't mind. In your previous video of the installation you added a USB port, for Android Auto I assume. Does it matter what USB slot it is put into on the back of the unit? You have a link for a USB port retention adapter. Would this work in place of adding a port? And lastly , when I go to purchase it (from your link) it has 3 different options depending on your dash. The 3 different options are for different factory trim levels. If you read the listing and look at all the pictures it shows you which model you need depending on your factory trim level. Yes, you can use the USB conversion harness and then use the factory USB port, but you will loose the ability to change wallpaper on the factory imid screen and I should also put the disclaimer that I have only done that on a LX/Sport model. Not sure about an EX or Touring model. It could be different. For apple CarPlay and Android Auto you want to use the USB port on the back of the Joying unit marked OTG

Joying releases many updates but any technology will eventually be obsolete. The unit has Android auto and apple CarPlay. As long as those technologies don't advance past what any other current stereo can support, they will continue to work fine.

I've got this unit in August, and December the touch started to have problems. It keeps registering random touchs and it's becoming unusable. I already tried resetting but no luck. So I would not recommend paying so much for something that is not built to last. If it was a Pioneer/Kenwood or other stereo brands it would work for a decade.

Also don't forget that when you sign on with your Android account into the headunit it keeps deleting all your google contacts. Multiple people showing this on the Joying forums.

I've had one installed in one of my vehicles for about 3 years and it's never had a problem. Sorry that you are having an issue. The Android contact issue was solved with an update but I always recommend people create a separate Google account just for use with the car stereo. You don't want your primary Google account installed on a car stereo anyway where a technician or someone else could have access to your email, etc. You can copy contacts between Google accounts also. The problem you reference only occurs when you have your phone connected via Bluetooth and the head unit and your phone have the same Google account running. It's caused by a sync error and is definitely a major issue with the older firmware.

I just installed a 9 inch into a 2013 Honda Civic. Clock setup 😵‍💫 It’s been painful. I can’t seem to find the functionality to sync Joying unit with the upper display clock. It’s been super painful to set up the clock correctly. At this point I don’t feel like leaving joying the most positive review. If you have any suggestions that would be very helpful. Sounds like a simple canbus setting problem because the clock works off of the head unit. You should email Joying, they are usually responsive within 24hrs.

I'm having the same issue. When I first installed it seemed everything was synced. Now they are a hour off. For some reason my Honda clock thinks it's in an earlier time zone... and the weird thing is I can't change the time from the steering wheel menu buttons. It allows me to get into the clock settings... but won't change up or down... Weird!

Just purchased this exact unit for my 2013 CRV EX-L. Did you manage to get the OEM side metal brackets to work? When I tried installing them on the Joying unit, the Joying unit faceplate refused to fit snugly into the dash. I could only get a snug fit by foregoing the side metal brackets altogether. Do you happen to have any pictures of how you screwed your brackets into your faceplate? Also - have you had any luck adding any apps to the home screen? For some reason Android is telling me the home screen is full where there is clearly an empty bottom row available.

Hi. I have a 2014 EX-L. When you hooked this joying model up…did you have to tap into anything to get the sound working? Did the factory amp and sub work? I just received got mine from joying today. Just wondering what to expect.

@@ddbobrow Factory amp and sub worked. You have to go into the Device settings and enable the Amp setting, when you first hook things up the audio will not work without it.

So I installed it today. Everything works great as far as the radio and camera. The problem I’m now is with the getting it (the radio bezel to properly sit in the dash. I tried first with the metal brackets from the OEM radio…wouldn’t sit flush. Took out the brackets and hooked the screen direct to the single din with the 4 clips attached to the center of the back of the screen into the 4 slots on the single din part of the radio….no luck. I can only get the top part of the bezel to click in. It’s like either the bezel is too short or there’s a piece blocking the bottom from sitting flush. All transferred clips align to the holes. Had to stop trying after 2 hours (back was killing me lol). Did you get yours to sit flush? If so, how?? Thanks!

I bought the same unit with the adapter so i could use the factory usb in the center console. Sometime Apple CarPlay when i plug it in it doesnt work. But i guess it has wireless carplay. My carplay is working without even having to plug it in. I would rather just do Plugged in carplay. I dont know if i did something wrong but it wont connect when i plug it in. Any ideas? I have the adapter plugged into the back of the imed plug to the headunit that say omd or whatever the usb port is called. But Carplay is working without the cable.

Yes. Swipe down on the top and a menu appears. One option is screen off. It blacks out the screen. Just double tap anywhere on the screen to wake it up. Very good for dark night driving.

Not sure. Sorry. I would reach out to Joying directly and ask them. I have seen a few other comments that said something similar. It worked great in our 2014 CRV and the imid screen did turn off normally. What trim level do you have? What factory radio did you replace? That may have something to do with it

Yes. Can use any standard aftermarket backup camera. Id recommend a AHD high definition one though since the unit also supports that.

That's the way the system is designed to work. You can wire it so it will show on the big screen but it takes some more work

No. I don't have Sirius. The only way you could retain it would be with an external Sirius receiver plugged into the aux port.

It looks like the volume on your head unit goes to 30 but the car's system would go to 40. Is that just some kind of a glitch or is the system not actually reaching full volume?

The system is the Joying unit. The car doesn't have a "system" anymore once you install this.

It is basically the same radio but I got both screens to work now when backing up Thanks but I notice it don't show the radio stations on both screens like yours was wondering why mines don't work I tapped into same wires you did ? But I just returned it cause I can't connect to wifi hotspot I only got it to work 1 time and that was it but I just ordered a higher gig see if that helps cause the one I had was only 1 gb and 16 ram see what happens with the new one with 32 ram

@@Nex-xw3ob Unfortunately I can't speak to the cheaper ones. Joying Android stereos are superior to most of the other stuff you will find out there. They use premium hardware and it just works. The reason your radio probably did not display was due to a CANbus setting problem, if your stereo even supported that.

For some reason, I can't initiate the lunch of my iPhone CarPlay and get CarLink over a USB connection. It works over Bluetooth only, which is quite an issue when you have more than one device in a car. I recently purchased and installed 9 inch unit in my 2019 CRV-LX. Everything else works great. Thank you, Sir. By the way both of a USB dongles in my kit came with Honda Civic tag. In a unit menu it shows Civic too. I tried to change it there to CR-V, but that new setting get back to Civic on its own. Can it be a culprit? Do you know where I can get CR-V specific dongle if problem is there?

All things considered, would you go for the 9 inch or newer 10.1 inch model? Mostly going to be using it for CarPlay. The 9 inch definitely looks more factory, nbut I imagine an extra inch of screen real estate would be nice to have. What are your thoughts? Considering 4GB Ram models for either variant.

They are similar. Like you said the 9 inch looks slightly more factory but the 10 inch one looks very factory too and does make the picture slightly larger. Just remember they both have the same resolution so the PPI is higher for the 9-in versus the 10-in

It's under the headliner at the back of the car. You can reach your hand in carefully without removing the headliner.
