Thank you for the informative lesson, without my dad to teach me the basics of cars it's nice to educate myself in my own spare time. I've already replaced the blinker bulbs twice and refilled the windshield wiper fluid. While I've only started small I can only thank channel's on KZbin like yours dedicated to sharing knowledge with positve tips and feedback! :)

Tip: Fill the oil filter with oil before threading it on. Prevents the rotating assy running dry as it fills the filter.

You might want to consider filling that new filter with oil before you install it. Thanks for posting this, I learned which torx bit to take out there with me.

I have used SuperTech synthetic oil for many years across a bunch of my wife and my cars.....and all my cars get over 200K miles, so I trust the oil to work well. I just bought a 2016 CMAX and will likely do my own oil changes.

Quentin Lewis definitely a good oil to use ... that’s why I recommended either the supertech brand or amazon basics since it’s made by the same manufacturer. The best IMO is valvoline but it’s rather pricey for synthetic.

There's nothing wrong with supertech, it's API rated. Check for the starburst symbol on the packaging.

I have a 2013 Ford C Max and mine takes 5W-20 so make sure u look at your manual. Also car is a Unibody frame put your Jack stand on a engine mounts car weighs in at close to 4000 pounds that weight will won't hold up were the Jack stand is not enough structural integrity. Your Jack is using the lift point already.

Ford updated the manual in 2014 to allow for 5W-20 or 0W-20 (the 2013s shipped with 5W-20, 2014 and later shipped with 0W-20).

After changing the oil, I always lower the car and check for leaks before I put the felt engine guard back on.

It’s unique to hybrids, including a Prius or any engine that has an electrical drivetrain with a gas motor so it is common for other cars as well.

Ok you only jacked the car from the left hand side the same side as oil drain. As a result when you drained the oil there will still be old oil left in the engine. Car Also the engine is tilted back same issue. You will still have old oil left in the engine. Car should be completely level for oil changes.

Tip: Don't rev the engine. Why? The oil pickup, filter and passages are now empty and so the engine will run with no lube until it primes the system, give it 30 seconds at idle. No reason to rev it at all. Great video quality, just a few tips to improve the oil change process!

The CMax is a full hybrid, so it won't start the gas engine while stationary in most circumstances unless you hold the gas pedal down (and I believe the gas engine just goes through the normal warm up cycle like it would when it's cold). For a regular car, yes, absolutely, touch not the gas pedal when you fire it up to check for leaks.

@@AA-tt5ok So the guys who made the car wrote the manual wrong 🤣. It is not supposed to be up to the full point but the crossed area should be fully covered...and that's exactly 4.5qt. Guess 1/2 qt extra won't hurt though.
