2012 Chevy Equinox 2.4 liter intermittent stall and check engine light

How to fix a P0010 intake camshaft position actuator solenoid. This vehicle was stalling randomly.

Every start on my 2014 2.4 Terrain it stalls, replaced both vvts, oem plugs, tb, maf, new air filter. Also oil change and my pcv is dry. After year of throwing parts at it and no codes, guy on KZbin Said add 6-8oz oil thickener like stp, Lucas, bardahl no smoke, I added 6 ounces of no smoke, it never stalled in 11 months, not once. Was every start before that, warm cold long drives, every start. I did oil change a few weeks ago and stall came back every start, added oil thickener and no stalls again. Any idea why this is working? I am using 5w30 valvoline EP oil, I change it every 4k and my terraun only has 66k miles. Otherwise it runs like new, no hesitation, quiet, no tick or odd sounds at start.

When you say you replaced your vvts you mean the hydraulic actuator for the camshafts? Also remember just because it’s a new part does not mean it’s a good part.

On myne it was low oil pressure. A new oil pump fixed it. The timing chain had been replaced and i suspect metal slivers got into the oil pump and scratched it up causing the low oil pressure. The thickener increases the oil pressure.

I have s 2012 chevy equinox that has little to no idle when sitting at a light or stopped for a long period of time and wants to stall after it's been driven for good amount of of time, it's not showing any lights or throwing any codes what can I do to fix this issue

Have you scanned for codes using a code reader? What are your fuel trim readings? I’ll need more info. Google TSB #19-NA-044, see if this sounds familiar.

@@jeffwiseman0286 prob is there are no codes when I took it to a shop to have them check it out I was told they couldn't find anything.

@@adamkelsey4869 gotcha. Without more info it’s hard to tell. If it were me I would be looking at my fuel trims. I have seen mass airflow sensor make cars do crazy things. Sometimes you can clean them with special cleaner. Fuel pressure, electrical issue, and vacuum leak are other areas I would go after. Sounds like maybe you need to find a more skilled shop, get a second opinion.

@@jeffwiseman0286 I did clean the mas and the map sensors it honestly didn't fix anything ive done reg oil changes and tune ups replaced the air filter and it still has little to no idle one the vehicles ran for roughly 20mins or more. I have to put it in neutral and give it some gas to keep it from stalling ive even replace the high pressure fuel sensor on the fuel rail. But it still does all the above.

@@adamkelsey4869 what’s your fuel pressure? Is it in spec? And remember just because it’s a new part don’t make it a good part. I put 3 Hyundai transmissions in a sonata before I got a good one. What about fuel trims? Are you able to see them?

Mine is stalling and cutting of while driving but the check engine light not on
