This is a very informational video for those who own a Kia soul. I just recently worked on my daughter's 2015 Kia Soul precisely because of a steady check engine light. Because the car has almost 80,000 miles, I changed the spark plugs, and when I went to remove the old ones, they were in bad shape. I probably should have replaced the coils, but I decided not. Despite not replacing the coils, the check engine light turned off. Also, when I want to gas up her car, I noticed that the gas cap no longer clicks to indicated it has sealed properly, hence another reason why the engine light would turn on. The effect it has on a car is much like trying to effectively use a ruptured straw which in return does not allow you to create enough suction to be able to enjoy it if you are only getting sudden spurts (msifiring). I will be replacing the coils as well just to be on the safe.

Engine lamp lit up on the Mustang GT. Checked all fluids and such, but all looks and sounds normal. Tow expensive, driving risky, so ordered an OBD2 scanner. Then I saw this video and checked the gas cap. Couldn't see anything wrong, but engine lamp went away after I touched it. Amazing, thanks a lot! OBD2 scanner good to have for the cars anyway.

Just keep an eye on things. I had the same problem years ago...Someone mentioned to me about the gas cap., so I bought a new one. Problem solved. It could take a few starts for the light to go out after replacing the cap., but the cost of a new gas cap is far less expensive than a mechanic's repair bill. Don't believe these videos you see on here. Disconnecting a battery terminal, then reconnecting isn't resolving the problem. THAT could lead to a bigger problem in the long run. Cars today have sensors...& a good mechanic can find what sensor is telling you what the problem likely is, but the secret to that is to call your mechanic, state what's going on., & he/she will likely tell you to drop by but do not turn the engine off. They scan for codes while the engine is running.

SENSORS !!! Seriously, I have spent almost 25 percent of the purchase price of my Jeep Wrangler on replacing damn sensors (mostly labour costs due to their usually ludicrous, inaccessible locations). My mechanic (a Jeep specialist) says he wouldn’t own a Jeep newer than a 1992 model due solely to sensor and other electronic issues. He drives a CJ and TJ and they never seem to give him any issues other than regular SIMPLE servicing and uncomplicated tune-ups.

My light was on last year or the prior year and I had to get it fixed and today the light came back on so now I have rot take it back 😩 mine popped on then off then on again with shaking so I pulled over turned it off waited and turned it vsck on and I asked the Lord to let me get home safe and He did just that but I’m definitely 💯 taking it back!

@@valeriemashoko808 It sounds like it was a misfiring issue, which means you probably needed spark plugs and the coils, unless it's a faulty sensor.

Took car in for emissions testing , passed. After driving home for about 45 minutes, so pulled into park and noticed the check engine light was on. Its a 2012 Chevy Equinox , never had any major problems 12,000 miles. I will check some of the items before going to auto repair.

Gas cap is very common for the ce light to be on. Spray it with wd40 clean it off and tighten it.

I have kia forte 2013 ( got a recall letter in the mail just a couple days ago btw ) I think i may need a mass air flow sensor car stalls a bit on acceleration but there are no other problems really , added power steering fluid , got an oil change then top off not too long ago.. check engine light came on ill go for diagnostics later today tho

My check engine light stays on most of the time in my 2009 ford escape. A few days ago that light started flashing and it turned out to be a bad cylinder. But before then it was supposedly a bad egr valve and I had it replaced but that didn't help anything. I just had the bad cylinder replaced and that got rid of the light for a little bit but it's back on now but it is running fine. I did use an obd2 scanner and it still reads the code for the egr valve. It is my opinion that older ford vehicles are notorious for engine lights coming on and they are just not designed well. For now I'm just ignoring the stupid light as long as it isn't flashing. I will not buy another ford vehicle.

Hi your problem lies somewhere else . EGR will go bad only if you are having incomplete combustion of the gas. This generates soot or carbon and i5 starts depositing in EGR and then moves forward to intake and entire exhaust system. It contaminates the catalytic converter and the muffler. Cylinder failure is one of the results . I suggest you look at the injectors and service them . And check and service spark plugs ,coils and air filters as well . But the way where are you located

Question: the last time I brought my car for heavy PMS, they said they cleaned my spark plug but it should be replaced sooner. Weeks gone by and the engine symbol shows again in the dashboard. My new spark plug was delivered. If these spark plugs gets installed, will the symbol be gone automatically? or it needs to be scanned again? I am planning to try installing the spark plug on my own (for education purpose). My car is 2019 model with 102km mileage... no other issue except on the engine symbol and some misfires and fuel economy decreases.

@@dandaxonebeats Try disconnecting your positive battery lead. Turn your light's on for a few seconds. That drains the power. Then reconnect your battery. And restart the engine. In some cases it resets and no engine light on.

I have a vw polo 2003.. sometimes when i turn the key to start the car it makes a kind of scratching noise, but the engine does not turn over and the engine warning light turns on. I turn the key to the off position and retry until the engine turns over, then the engine warning light turns off. I bought a cheapo Chinese OBD code reader which seems to work. As long as the car runs OK, I prefer my wife's solution: Stick a piece of black electrical tape over the "CHECK ENGINE" light. Problem solved without breaking the bank!!
