This dude. I remember we're talking about this performance, and he tells me. "I'm sick and my left hand was hurting the entire time." 99.5! and this dude was sick with a funky hand. WHAT?? His words still haunt me to this day. (edited for spelling)

I get the feeling a lot of the commentors here don't understand how nerve-wracking these competitions are, or how self critical the competitors are immediately after a performance. That guy wasn't being an asshole, he was just nervous. It's a lot of pressure.

Dellie Jonut That and from what I've heard he had the flu too haha, freaking props to him for that.

Man, I've been behind a drum for 25+ years and that is so good it is just beyond comprehension and words. Keep playing...Keep getting better. It's mind blowing your style, skill, showmanship and overall drumming prowess.

Fun fact: Keelan recently said that he used Vic Firth Mike Jacksons for this solo instead of the Promark DC50s that the line used.

Even though I LOVE his 2011 solo, even a tad above this one, you can tell this is a much cleaner solo over all, everything was just so freaking clean. Deserved the 99.5

Are you kidding??? 99.5!!?!!!!?????! JUST GIVE HIM 100!!!!!!

I feel for this, I remember I played with more anger for our show in indoor percussion states because of my sickness, in 2019 day of states I got the flu, after the performance I put my uniform up and went home, We did get top 3 and I still controlled myself pretty well for the performance, well done Keelan, you are the goat bro.

Having the flu could not stop him from getting an ALMOST PERFECT score! Well done Keelan!

I was astonished. This is great. When I am mad or sick I play hard and loud. I am saying, He looked mad or sad or whatever I would of played loud and hard but this is great. Great control of sticks, Great Dynamics, Great Diddles. #superior

A lot of this solo seems influenced by Casey Brohard’s 2005 DCI solo, which may be the best DCI snare solo ever

So i always wondered this is it written in the rules that you have to turn around to do a warm up before you preform
@boriente2 жыл бұрын
You are given time to do a quick warm-up before you begin. Most simply chose to not face the crowd as they play whatever.

Im not saying he wasnt good i just have a hard time with the score. I always feel there is room for improvment for anything in this world and the judges score pretty much said there is nothing more to do to make it better. Just sayin
@kietey145 жыл бұрын
Nah they gave him .5 space to grow in. There is literally a video on KZbin of Steve Campbel getting a 100 score in I and E back in the 80s. His solo is dumb clean and out of this world. You have an issue with perfection, but some people actually reach it. He had a good run here with the flu and a bad left hand.

What a prick. Doesn't bow or anything. Amazing solo. Technically perfect, well written, grooves, has everything. But zero stage manners, just walks off like "Yeah I'm a fucking badass". Which he is..

You probably don't know what it feels like to get on a stage by yourself and play, with people watching. It's nerve wracking, and usually when people get nervous they forget to do certain things
