Just curious, why didn’t you take it out of the top?

What repair manual did you use? I have a 2017 journey that needs an engine swap.

Charm.li use the newest they offer. They’re all the same from 2011 up

First off, thank you for your video, i just came across while on YT. I just installed an engine on a 2012 journey 3.6, but when I go to turn the crank by hand (ratchet on harmonic balancer) it seems to get stuck even after we cranked it and it turned freely before installing engine. Do you have any idea of what it might be or advice? thank you much

If there are spark plugs in it it will have higher compression and take a bit more effort to turn. Double check the connection to the transmission also. Torque converter bolts might not be tight or in the wrong spot.

You took the transmission out, is it possible to remove just the engine?
@ArchesMechanic9 ай бұрын
I suppose you could but the procedure is to remove both.

Hey man, I came across your channel surfing KZbin with dodge journey issues. I had oil changed after getting a ticking noise. Any tips troubleshooting this it's my wife's +kids car
@ArchesMechanic7 ай бұрын
A little bit of ticking on mine indicated the oil was a little low. Besides that the injectors tick a little. These engines are also prone to lifter failure. I’ve never had that but it can happen

@ArchesMechanic you responded quick, thanks. You happen to be California?

Should have changed out the oil cooler to an all aluminum unit. Also pull the valve covers off and check for failed rocker arms. I recommend changing them all out just because it's easier to do it with the engine out of the vehicle than in the vehicle. It's only a $250 investment for the piece of mind, knowing you won't have any problems for the next 100k to 150k miles, maybe more.

@@ArchesMechanic Nice! I have a 2.4L Fiat Freemont (Rebadged Dodge Journey) That has developed a whole raft of problems caused by plastics being used in the cooling system. The plastic radiator filler cap corroded away on one side, spraying coolant on the throttle body killing it. The same thing happened with the plastic heater hose connections. One of the connections broke off and dumped all the coolant on the road at highway speed net result being a blown head gasket.

Hi mate, did you pull out the engine from the bottom or up top?

We had to replace ours 2012 journey engine about 4yrs ago. If the vin# Starts with 3 it was made in Mexico. If it starts with a 1or a 2. I believe it means it was made in the U.S.... mines had a 3 😢
