I'm currently running macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 on a 13" mid-2012 MBP w/ 2.5 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, upgraded 1TB SSD and 16GB Corsair RAM. I'll say it the startup is a bit sluggish but once it "warms up", it seems to be running fairly smooth. I am considering downgrading to Sonoma for a potentially smoother experience, but overall running 15.0.1 on this device runs just fine for my day to day needs. Love this machine and I will never get rid of it!

I ran Monterey, but last week, suddenly, all files became “corrupted”. Upgraded to Ventura, same problem, upgraded to Sequoia, and it worked. So some of us might have no choice.

Thanks for the video. I have a MBP 2012 like yours and upg to 16GB and 1TB SSD. With OCLP and Ventura it is running great and stable. Will let my newer macs run Sonoma and Sequoia so I don't get the slowdowns and headaches.

It SHOULD work, but I don't have it to test. Really the only hard requirement is the storage space and need at least Ventura to run it. How well it'll work, I have no idea, but it should run.

You can just reboot into network recovery and install the latest supported MacOS version.

If your already running Sonoma on OCLP can you just update the patcher to the latest version 2.0.2 post install root patches and update using settings or do you have to create a macOs installer on a flash drive like we did the first time you installed Sonoma on OCLP? Thanks in advance. Your content is great btw.

Funny you posted this today because I just started working on it and I’ve been following your videos to do this work so thank you. I ran into an issue if you would have advice. I ended up with not being able to get into my account and every time I type my password in, it just restarts and makes me type in my password again and it’s ultimately purgatory feels. Hi Eenvos, Operating system issues aside would you recommend picking up a second hand 2012 or 2015 Macbook Pro in 2024?
@Eevnos3 ай бұрын
I’d go with the 2015. They’re not upgradable, but they’re faster, lighter and outperform the 2012 in pretty much every way.

@@digitalmandave I completely agree! So many people are all about getting the latest and greatest, even if they don’t need it. Depending on what a person does, an older computer is often times all they need.

@@Eevnos Ah already got a 2012 macbook pro for like $200 canadian ($145 USD). was it a bad deal? I thought these would be better than the 2015 because of upgradibility, but maybe i was wrong. Should i sell it and get a 2015 instead (I upgraded my 2012 mbp maximally though)
@checkmychannel50922 ай бұрын
@@AndRei-yc3tiIf that is the i5 version then thats a bit overpriced I would say. But considering you have already bought and upgraded it , I would say keep it instead of replacing it with a 2015 ones ,since you won't be able to do heavy tasks on either of these anyways , if you need something powerful just save up a little bit more and get at least a m1 machine.

@@Eevnos Yes, I was dumb. Since it was time to replace my computer, I decided to take my chances and update it without wiping it first. OpenCore made my outdated computer slow. My fault. I then updated my 2008 but wiped it first with much better results. I'd like to revert my 2012 to salvage data and basic operations if that's even possible. 8GB is still good for Macs, people gotta remember until 2024 Apple were still releasing 8GB models, so there's no way you are gonna need 16GB or more to run MacOS for a while, they won't kill off Macs that only came out in 2023 by requiring too much RAM.
