This is so awesome. I started Judo back in May for MMA and I gotta say it's becoming one of my favorite styles. It's so aggressive and so much fun. I love it :D

Yes, Submissions is part of the sport of Judo. The object is to score Ippon. You can get an ippon by throw, pin, armbar, or strangle.

That's because this is a compilation of great moments of one tournament. If they were to show the whole competition, there would have been a lot more of the lesser non-winning throws, and therefore a lot more ground work as well.

I have always wanted to try judo. My dad was a brown belt in judo and use to throw me all over the place! I currently study bjj, but may give judo a try for the take downs. I'm 31 though so not a spring chicken anymore! Hopefully my body can still take it.

That is because sometimes white and blue belts are used to signify which player is which, same as a white and blue gis.

I tried Aikido for several months and gave up. For me, it was so..counter-intuitive and difficult to learn. I've had a complimentary judo class and by comparison , it felt as natural as could be. These days, tuition and deteriorating knees are prohibitive.

@geraldinegonzalez7358

It just depends on the person, if you're a quick learner, probably 3 to 5 months to be "OK" obviously everything takes a lot of practice.

Belt colours in judo are not as important as in martial arts like Aikido or Karate . It is all about defeating your opponent by a throw , a submission or a pin . I do not want to confuse you with the Japaneese names right now but yes Judo is mostly about facing and defeating your opponent and less about belt colours :}

Judo has everything BJJ has,and vice versa.Don't expect to see any differences in the styles,they're practically the same(which is the result of the most successful ripoff in history/bjj ripping of kosen judo/),imo Judo is more well rounded but you also have well rounded BJJ gyms,i suggest you go with Judo,find a dojo that matches your wishes and knock yourself out.

+I am Warren often, a person will tap, and then claim they did not tap. It is a common thing to see a seasoned competitor hold an technique until the Official stops the match, rather than letting go when the tap occurs. The ones you see who release on tap either are very kind, or haven't been burnt by the rules yet.

You will. Everyone's crap in the beginning. Just practice and dont think you have to master every throw. Most high level competitors have 6 throws they use, thats it. 2 primary throws, a setup throw for each, and a followup throw for each. fyi, this is coming from a competitor with 18 years of xp.
