I bought my scion iq last month...I live in new York...it's the ideal car for 3 1/2 people I drive it everyday for work I already spent over a 1000 miles because its fun to drive and I spend like 26 dollars for a full tank every week and a half,I love it.i think I'm the only one that has it.

I bought my iQ at the end of April. Currently have 12,000 miles on it. Typically get 40-45mpg on the backroads and 38-ish in town. Well built and I love the simple interior that does not have a gajillion buttons. Traction control does work as I have had the opportunity to send it into action driving in the rain here in the Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas. Had a few people get curious enough to ask to sit in it and they are always amazed at how roomy it feels...then they giggle when they get out.

Should also be pointed out that the IQ takes regular whereas the Smart and Mini take premium, so even if it loses by a couple mpg here or there, it's still cheaper to run the same trip in the IQ.

I bought one to use as a dingy in my toter home. I have a 2012 a6 and half a dozen other cars and I find myself driving the IQ most due to the FUN factor. It's a little go cart. The ride is great for a car this size and the cvt makes the driving experience quite sedate. The smart has the worst brutal shifts of anything I've driven. There are other cars that are bigger and weigh more for the same money. So what? For me size was the best thing about the IQ. But I learned it's a hoot to drive.

Hello, eleven air bags. It's a cocoon in a crash and cvt traction control... All that cool stuff adds to the cost. I love mine.
@BoopSnoot11 жыл бұрын
The fuel economy isn't great because of physics: 1) Making an efficient yet hyper compact exhaust and intake manifold is damn near impossible. Cramped quarters means reduced efficiency with sharp bends. 2) Shorter bodies, all else equal, are less aerodynamic as the air can't stabilize and creates turbulent drag; this hurts highway fuel economy 3) Shorter bodies usually result in steeper blockier front ends, which are less aerodynamic than more sloped designs like on longer cars.

2 issues: 1. Don't like the CVT at all. I'd take a stick before a CVT. 2. Flat out costs too much. At that price there is some great competition. Other than those, I *really* do like this car.

@@BruceTheSillyGoose I'm not so sure. I have an IQ and the tires are really narrow. Because they are so narrow, the car has an amazing turning radius. If the tires get much wider they will hit the wheel well when turning sharply. I don't find the ride to be excessively stiff, nor do the tires seem noisy to me.

Almost ALL subcompacts come with front discs, rear drums. Drum brakes function in a similar manner to disc brakes, shoes press against a drum, just like pads press against a rotor. There is no difference in pedal feel/operation. If you had to pump the brake pedal on your 69 Camaro, you probably had air in the lines.

PLus, Coopers are way, way more money to buy. Two different types of cars anyway. The iQ is made for excellent gas mileage and parking and Coopers are designed more for sporty driving and some get very good mileage but not as good as the iQ.

I agree. You can get a bigger Chevy Spark for 4K less than this tiny thing and the Spark has 39 HWY MPG and this only has 36. The only thing this thing has on the Spark is the city MPG at 36 but the Spark isn't bad at 31. When you combine the MPG both cars are about the same. Id say unless they drop the price for this thing to around 10-11K Stay away from it. Its a ripoff for what you get
@carsonphillips5246 жыл бұрын
The Spark actually only gets 31 combined mpg (28 city/36 hwy) according to fueleconomy.gov. If your driving around town mostly in the Spark you will rarely get over 30 mpg. The iQ gets 37 combined. If you compared them on an all highway trip then the numbers would be about the same. Otherwise the iQ comes out ahead by several mpg. Most people will have city driving mixed in for everyday use. Plus, the Scion will be much more reliable with better build quality being a Toyota product. I drove a 2013 Scion iQ the other day and the doors still shut with a quality thud after 104,000 miles. The Spark is a decent car and it boils down to personal preference but I'd pick the Scion.

that aside look at the reliability that toyotas have had though and that was only one time that they went bad and they fixed it.
