Exactly! Relays are TEAM events; not individual. There are tons of individuals who can run amazing times, however, they may not work well with others. The chemistry amongst Madison, Felix, Knight, and Jeter is amazing, and they hence beat a FIERCE Jamaican team, and the rest of the world! A simple split second delay in handoffs would have totally changed that, and I think it wouldn't have even gotten around with Tarmoh.

The 200m is going to be a BEAST! The American women have dominated that race this season. I have no idea who is going to win we got Allyson, Kimberblyn, Sanya, Carmelita, Bianca, Soloman,Anderson...That race is EPIC!!!

Congratulations Carmelita Jeter!!!! Great showing in London for the Silver. Only a half a step kept you from the Gold. Considering that Frayser-Price works out with Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake (arguably the fastest men in the world) that is quite a feat!!! Much Love Mama!!

I dont really like people making baseless and blank statement about athletes but why are people always ready and quick to judge carmelita Jeter.......What i noticed about Jeters races is that is purely textbook. 1.Just look at the placement of her feet as it touches the ground 2.Positioning of her and arm and how it moves 3.As well as the knee lift in the middleof her races. On a good day she tries to execute very well and she has a strong fighting mentality too.

I mean Felix congratulated Jeneba initially. Watch the entire video and her post run press conference. She congratulates her teammate again. And when asked about rumors of a tie, she says "I'm not thinking about that. Jeneba won. And I am happy for my teammate".

Allyson Felix run 21.69 bcos 1.She wants to tell the whole world how prepared and eager she is for the 200m gold 2.she is also telling the other 200m runners that,they must come to London with their A game before they can match up with her. 3.The time(21.69) will boost her confidence and build her both physically and mentally. Lets hope the 3rd time will be the charm.

I think Felix, if she makes it on the 200m might win in London. He 2 toughest test is VCB and SRR, but both Campbell-Brown and Richards-Ross will have to ran 6 to 7 races prior to the 200m finals in the Olympics since VCB will probably be in both 100m & 200m, SRR will be in 200m & 400m. If Felix qualifies in the 200m and her training partner Tarmoh doesn't, Bob Kerse will give Tarmoh the last 100m spot well Felix will run the 200m + both relays.

It was later determined that it was actually a tie for third. Allyson Felix is on the 100 meter team now. Jeneba Tarmoh is only on the relay team now. She didn't want to contest the 100 meter slot.

Exactly my point here....this was a big chance for Tarmoh to make her name across u.s.a sport .whether she wins or loses the runoff,she would have done herslef a great deal. It is only losers who quit and quitters neva wins. She withdraw just bcos of this small pressure and i wonder if she has got a heart to handle the pressure of an Olympic final as well She should go back and read a lot of articles about Torrence,Devers and Ashford e.tc ,all they went through before they turned to CHAMPIONS.

I beg to differ, Jeter has been the one over the last 2 years, and she appears to be getting back to form. And she has run 10.63 so she will be very hard for the Jamaican's to beat. And I'm neutral, I'm neither American or Jamaican so for me I just want to see a great race.

In an interview this morning Felix said she was not going to run the run-off and not ready for a coin toss bcos her team mate tarmoh won the race.For me i think felix is matured and she will neva let anything come between her,kersee n tarmoh. She is real and not fake that is why she was dissapointed after the race and we all saw it on her face.i dont think is was arrogance but she was not happy with her run and lost.

You see what Felix did in the 200m? I think you might be right. VCB has always peaked for the GAmes tho so wouldn't count her out but 21.69 by Felix is STUNNING and will be very very tough to beat even if VCB is at her best (21.71). Will be a GREAT race (just like the women's 200m Free which will be THE race in the pool!!)

Knight was the more experience relay runner is how I look at it. You have to remember the team that just broke the world record with Madison, Felix, Knight and Jeter also destroy the same Jamaican squad, w/o Campbell-Brown at the Penn Relays back in April. Knight was on the world championship team last year that won with Felix and Jeter too. They did try using Tarmoh on the A squad but she screwed up an exchange in Monaco that got the team DQ. Drummond went with the most experience team
@MrFlexybee
@MrFlexybee 12 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about the relay first leg for fraser then fine by me,she will excel but the open 100m is anybody's race until they cross the finsih line. Fraser has a time of 10.92 in newyork, likewise Felix 10,92 in Doha .Jeter also has world lead of 10.80 and not forgeting VCB too.Anybody is favourite prior to London and you just cant single out any person for the individual 100m.

I agree. They could have found 1/1000th if they looked closely. When the image is enlarged Felix's torso is a shaving back from Tarmoh - if they had applied the same logic as they did to Ottey/Devers all those years back they would find a winner.

Well like Felix or not she is a great athlete. one of the best 200,400 m runners we have. Who cares if she's arrogant, so what? What does that have to do with her being a great athlete...hell an athlete has the right to be arrogant when they reach a certain level of success. Every athlete is not gonna b soft spoken and humble. I personally have never seen an arrogant moment from her, but if she's had a few so be it

Shes running the 100 because she said that with all the 400 training she has the endurance for the 200 but no speed she decided to work on the 100 because she needs the speed work. If youve see her races shes usually catches people, training in the 100 will help her with her starts for the 200..

Jeter is not a 200m sprinter and just begun to run that race. If she try out for the trials and make it through we will see if she can make it to the finals in London. Apart from that, the fastest man/woman is ALWAYS judge by speed and that's the 100m. End of discussion.

In hindsight i'm also torn...I'll just leave it at may the best woman win. Felix has some REAL competition in the 200 between Richards-Ross, Jeter, Tarmoh, and Duncan. I can't wait to see who makes the team. In a perfect world it'd probably be Richards-Ross, Jeter, and Felix but idk.

LAST year all the two women(vcb n jeter) who beat her in the 200m ,had faster PB than her.All she needed was the speed to carry it into her 200m race.I personally dont think she has done herself harmby running the 100m and now that she is out,she can fully concentrate on the 200m as well.

'Pharmaleta Jeter': Rapid late improvement, huge muscle development, adult acne, deepened voice. All symptoms of doping (never heard of the puffy face thing before). No one has gotten fast so late (started running fast at age 29). I hope they devise a test to catch dopers (from whatever country) even if it's years after.

You are some what wrong there. Asafa was injured last year at the worlds, hence for the reason why he didn't appear in the open 100m. Asafa won the Jamaican Nationals over Blake in 2011 since Bolt had a bye has the defending World Champion and didn't have to run at his Nationals. Most likely Frater would of been the odd man out since Carter had qualified for the 100m team too.

Yeah I know. I'd never accuse someone of drug abuse with no proof. I thought that's what you were doing. And as far as Madison's seeming attitude, overall she's just seemed pretty close-mouthed with reporters. I'm thinking she probably did think she might win this. Based on the fact that she beat Jeter in the race they had right before this. but just like when she lost to VCB indoors, she should try to accept defeats a bit more gracefully. She has many more of those to come.

That's the truth, that was the p.c. version. But it's survival of the fittest, and we need the most competitive spirit coming out of the blocks in London. Apparently, the stress of the race and all that comes with the Olympics is a lot for most people which is understandable, and I'd rather her bow out than take Felix' spot.

200 lead is almost irrelevant to me, although that was a hell of a run from Sanya. She is tactically inconsistent and I doubt she will be able to reproduce another perfect 200. The expert 200m runners Felix and VCB will make her look ordinary @ the olympics I think, and that's if she makes the team @ 200.

Disagree. Tarmoh had her chance to settle it the right way, she chose not to. This is sports, no gifts here. Even Felix was upset that she decided not to do the run off. Besides, Tarmoh is 22, Felix is 27, Tarmoh has plenty of time to get better and faster.
