I watched this race live with some colleagues during a break at work. Three grown men cheering and jumping from excitement, it was such a great race. I am Dutch so I was cheering for Dafne but also Elaine ran a fantastic race. I think without Elaine Dafne would not have run this fast. They made each other pushing their bounderies.

@@randomvintagefilm273 She didn't lose anything. She ran 21.97 (SB) from lane 2 and came in third! The comment I made was with regards to her consistency and how she still managed to make her way onto the podium way outside her prime. VCB won her first Olympic title over this distance eleven years prior in 2004. Schippers, on the other hand, defended her title by the narrowest of margins in 2017 and hasn't been on the podium since. Still laughing?

kimoya butler: yes, VC-B is a top athlete. Her strength is her start, Dafne's is her powerful finish. 2008 was VC-B's best year for 200 who is best at shorter distances

VCB was leading off that curve. She ran a monster curve. I don't remember seeing anyone run that well up to that point. She couldn't hold it for the last 60 meters. Still got bronze!

Dafne was just starting to fill out then. She has turned into such a spectacular athlete and woman. This was a fantastic race. I hope Dafne and the other great runners get to compete in the Olympics this upcoming summer and get to put all their hard work and training to use.

@Under the Surface it's being covered by the announcers as it's happening and there is NO break in their coverage. In other words, there is no editing for the race or immediate post race recovery and celebration. Moron. Just face it, your girl Thompson is a bad sport. As a matter of fact, none of the Jamaicans came up to her and congratulated her. It was Schippers who went up to one of them on the ground and patted her on the back as to recognize her race, and even then, she got no response.

it's impossible to accelerate in the closing stages of a 200 - the winner is the one who slows down least. Her heptathlon strength and mental toughness really showed here
