Your video and explanation was awesome. I just replaced my 2014 escape shift lever and it took about 20 minutes and followed your steps exactly. Was so easy and I was worried about doing this. Probably saved me 100s of dollars from a mechanic doing this. The part cost me $25. Thank you for doing this video

@@thesteaktc haha yeah its still going! We put a new transmission in it this past spring so I'm hoping it makes it a bit longer still! 173kmiles so not ancient but not young and spry either! Thanks for the encouragement 🙏

Thank you for this! We just got our daughter a 2015 Escape and the shifter is gummy and nasty. Watched your video and just ordered a new one from Amazon. Out of curiousity, I went to the link you have for the screws, they are $84!!!! I will be extra careful to not lose mine! Thanks again for the video.

@@Kreeves11674 yeah sure thing! Hope it goes off without a hitch for you guys. In terms of the screw, you can Google search the part number to see if it shows up anywhere else cheaper or see if you can match the size and thread from a local store of course as well. The blue on the threads is blue loctite (thread lock) since they're so short so if you do find your own screws, a dot of blue loctite should be fine. But yes- only if you drop or lose one- hopefully not! Good luck!

Poor design on the original and the replacement.Just like the non leather steering wheel. Why can't anybody do the knob in leather. So it will last forever. Edited: I bought a new one since I had no choice unless I want to use a glove on my right hand from all the sticky residue from the knob I bought the one from your link. It worked perfectly. On a side note the up and down manual gear selector on the knob is softer and offer less resistance than the original. IE no clicking noise when pressed either gear up or down
