2013 Ford Edge AC only cold on one side

This 2013 Ford Edge had hot air coming out one side of the dash and cold air from the other side. Even though it has single climate control the air going through the evaporator is split into left and right. What we found out on this vehicle is the Freon level was low because of a leak near the condenser. The low Freon level was causing only one portion of the evaporator to get cold.

I had a few fight me in the past especially the true dual zone units that make you 90% sure the problem is in the dash. Now the first thing I do is hook up gauges or a machine.

Thanks Cody. I see it mostly on GMC trucks with dual climate control. I check the pressures and/or Freon charge 1st before diving into the HVAC control systems.

Seen this as well. As you say newer vehicles seem to be more fussy with refrigerant charge.

Automotive Solutions it also doesn’t help that they only hold a small amount of refrigerant now as well. A very small leak will cause issues quickly.

First cold front here in DFW, TX... I tried using the heat on my 2013 Ford Edge Sport, and it is split driver/passenger with only the temp changes working on the passenger side. The driver side is all cold, all the time. In defrost, face, or feet. I heard you mention dual actuators. Would this be my problem? Ford also did away with the vehicle health report I think around August 2018, and I just got prompted to run one (which didn’t work as suspected). So with that, I wonder if there’s some PCM problem? Any ideas?

It could be a stuck blend door actuator. I don’t have a video for one but there are several available on KZbin. It seems to be a easy replacement. There is also a TSB that mentions a update in programming for the HVAC module.

ThePracticalMechanic I found a Car Gurus forum with a very simple fix: an HVAC module reset by pressing the Defrost and Climate/Power button at the same time; then pressing the Power/Climate button once. Some electronic clicking happens, the ambient light colors cycle through before going back to the chosen color, and it’s fixed. 👍🏼

Wrong couse is de actuador motor in thr dash. I have the same PROBLEM. The temperature is the same for all car sistems. the same ok. The distribution is the problem
