2013 Ford Edge Driver Side Temperature Blend Door Actuator Replacement

This has happened to my 2012 Edge about 8-10 times over the last 2 years. I have been able to unplug and replug that clip and it usually resets the blend door actuator. Today it wouldn’t reset so i was able to use a pen cap to put it in the white circle (while upside down on the floor of the driver’s side) and it reset. Maybe one day I will get fed up enough to attempt to replace it. Thanks for the video! PS. If it happens to the passenger side, drop the glove box down and again, stick a pen in the white circle and give it a spin. (If I can do it in August heat while 9 months pregnant, you can too :))

1st off Thanks for this great video! Ford Edge work is always challenging. I would recommend operating the a/c before re assembly of the cover panels because some of these actuators can be defective from the manufacturer and for that reason you might want to use the Motorcraft from a Ford Dealer. That advice is straight from the mechanics themselves.

Just a helpful tip. When I installed the top front screw, I used one round of masking tape around the screw head and screwdriver shaft. Doing so allowed me to find the hole without dropping the screw over and over. It worked great! After tightening the screw, I just had to barely tug on the screwdriver and the tape remained on the screwdriver.

This is a great walk through thank you! I was able to get mine replaced. I can hear the mechanisme working and can see it switching positions. However, my blower motor is no longer working 🤦‍♂️. Anyone know why the blower motor may have gone out during this process?

I just ended up getting the parts from a local dealership, to expedite more than anything. Nothing much else to add, just have patience.

Is that main or auxiliary blend temperature door actuator?

My understanding is that there are driver side and passenger side blend doors in this system to control temperature. This is the driver side.

I haven’t read up too much to find out what issues others have had. I had only seen that no videos were available covering replacement of the part. Replacement fix my issues with driver side temperature blending.

Take the covers off just like in the video. If you have dual climate, DO NOT take the radio head off, it will do nothing for you. Push the seat all the way back and raise and extend the steering wheel. There is a harness connector do not disconnect it but unclip it from the dash frame it makes a big difference
