Are 2013 and 2016 similar in this process are there any major differences that you are aware of?

I was wondering if this is the same as a 2018 Ford Fusion 2.5?

Hello, I own a 2014 Ford Escape 1.6 L- FWD, My engine failed due to being out of time. I order a used engine with 94000 miles on it, the engine was in working condition before being removed, I had it installed by a mechanic at a shop. However, within 1 minute of the car being started, there is a notification on the screen that read: High Engine Temperature Stop Safely. Upon scanning the following code came up P1299 Cylinder Head Over-temperature Protection Active. The coolant level sensor, the coolant temp sensor, and the Cylinder Head Over-temperature Protection sensor were replaced. The shop also reset the PCM however the issue is still there. The engine does not overheat while it is running from the data received on the tech computer. So far the tech at the shop told me the issue is electric and he will continue to work on it. My car does not have a remote start and is out of warranty. I would appreciate any opinions on resolving this issue.

He should be able to put heat to the temp sensor and see if it's giving resistance with a volt meter on the ohms setting. He should check the wires from the sensor to the pcm for continuity also.

@ 46:36 you unplugged something, what is that plug and the single wire loom that runs down and has 2 plug ins a male and female do you know what that is for?

Are you still doing these? My son has a 2014 with a bad engine. We were going to get a used engine to put in but it's too much work for our garage.

I'm consider doing my 2015 fusion 2.0 in my garage. No lift. I would need to support the car pretty high up if I'm dropping it out. Or....I'm considering attempting pulling from the top. I did see a vid of someone pulling a 1.6 from the top and had just enough room to sneak it out WITH the crank pulley still on. Thoughts on all this would greatly be appreciated.... Could I get away with marking the crank pulley and the flex plate so I can just re install it in the same spot.....or is it a must to get the tool? Also....I assume the vacuum pump would need to be removed to get the tool into the cam slot....? Thanks for any advice.

You can do them from the top. You have to lock the timing and remove the crank pulley to install. Obviously you can just remove on the old engine without locking because you're not using it. If you are familiar with the timing on them it's not a problem. I should do a video of that I guess.. 🤔

I have a 09 fusion 2.3 coming in my shop for a engine replacement here in Maine. I have a lift so I could drop the subframe, but I'm trying to do whatever is quickest. How many hours does this call for?
@CarMechaNick2 жыл бұрын
If you're wanting the easiest I would take out the entire unit from underneath. You can take from the top but you need to index the crank pulley or put at TDC and mark pulley at crank sensor. You'd need to lock timing before removal. I would opt for taking out subframe and coming out the bottom. If you haven't done many.

@@CarMechaNick Ive done a few motor swaps, but none with this engine. Thanks for the advice I'll go that route. I downloaded the service manual too. I don't wanna play with the timing, I've been waiting to drop one out since I got my lift. This will be the one.

They aren't bad at all. You can keep axles in and all. Good luck 👍 not that you need it!

@@CarMechaNick I'm gonna see if the customer wants the tranny fluid changed, if not I'll leave them in. I appreciate you getting right back to me, I was working on a lobster boat for the past 17 years, and started doing this on the side. But got so busy I opened my own garage and got off the boat. I actually love wrenching and there was a big need for another shop in my area.

I tell ya I'd love to do it on my own. With a family to support, it's a tough change to make. I hope one day I can get where you are. That's awesome. I don't think I could do a boat, I love land.

Replacing the engine in one of these soon. Can you remove engine from top alone or is it better to just do it this way?
@CarMechaNick3 жыл бұрын
This is the best way for sure. You can do the 2.5 ford's up top but have to lock timing and remove crank pully to clear the frame.

@@CarMechaNick I need to replace my 2.5 (just found out yesterday). The All Data DIY says to drop the power train from the bottom. Do you know any resources that would tell me how to do it from the top?

Can you take the engine and trans with the sub frame at the same time?
@CarMechaNick3 жыл бұрын
It's not mounted to the subframe. So I don't think I would do that but you could always try.
