Thanks bud for the great thorough video. I was stuck and because of your video I was able to overcome the obstacle. I bought the whole hub but it was stuck on the lower ball joint.

Ha ha, the disappointment on his face when the axle slid right out...couldn't use his nifty air hammer. I felt for him right there.

Awesome video! I was able to find the full assembly for about the same price of just having the bearings pressed out/in. This video was perfect for what I needed. Thank you!

easy way to get those spinning tie rods most of the time you can pressure the joint up with your hand and impact it off. sometimes works with your hand but if you put a jack there and pressure it will always work
@dmwautomotive229122 күн бұрын
@@ramiromanchajr.5405 iv had to do that a couple of times. Thanks for the advice and for watching.

Great Video. Best I've See On A Patriot. It's a pain to replace done it once 1yr ago. Think I got s bad bearing. Fixing to do it again. Unfortunately it's hard to find a place that will push the bearing in and out for you
@dmwautomotive22912 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud. I try to make a good video without being boring. That sucks you have to do another one. Hopefully you can find a place to press it out. Good luck thanks for watching

Thanks....I have trust in my Mechanic to fix everything right. So Wheel bearing is on 1 side?
@dmwautomotive2291Ай бұрын
@vivianbraggs6557 no. All 4 wheels each have one. It's a pretty easy job, so any mechanic should be able to do them. Good luck, and thanks for watching

so much smarter n easier to just buy a whole new nuckle with a hub n bearing already pressed in it for a few bucks more than just replace the bearing

What did I learn as a 5yr rookie mechanic. Always use lower metrics for Sway bar link nuts that's keep spinning

I bought the kit to press out on car. Harbor freight. Works good. Just have to make sure you press in just enough to not destroy wheel speed sensor.
@dmwautomotive22912 жыл бұрын
That sounds a lot easier. I didn't know they had a tool like that. Thanks for the info.

Aluminum rim on steel hub. I pump grease into the rim center after install so it don’t rust! Had to split first one off
@dmwautomotive22912 жыл бұрын
Wow that would suck. I've never had one stuck that bad. Normally a few taps they come off.

So no front end alignment needed? Getting ready to change mine but worried about alignment now
@dmwautomotive22912 жыл бұрын
No. Just changing a wheel bearing should not throw off the alignment because your not messing with any of the alignment adjustments so it should still be set to the right specs. Good luck with changing it.

It’s cheaper to replace the whole thing , my son has a jeep compass , it has a bad bearing , I’m just going to replace the whole knuckle with the bearing already in it . Just unbolt old one and bolt up the new one , easy peasy ! Lol , most shops want $300 to press the bearing out and new one in , no thanks , good video though .
@dmwautomotive2291 Жыл бұрын
That does sound easier. Thanks for watching and good luck with your son's. Have a good one

@@dmwautomotive2291 I get it man. I am a tech myself and this is a perfect example of a project fighting you every step of the way. It is almost never straight forward and I hope people have a better understanding now. I am going to get the pre-installed bearing because that is one less step to fight you imo. Thanks for the video!
@dmwautomotive229111 ай бұрын
@Cheengowah yea it sucks sometimes. I live in ohio so I deal with rust all the time. Unfortunately flat rate still pays the same rather its super easy or you fight with something for 7 hrs.
@dropdoc4927 Жыл бұрын
much easier to replace with another loaded knuckle.
@dmwautomotive2291 Жыл бұрын
It could be easier to an extent. But there is always a chance of other things giving you trouble. I've never seen then sold new that way. And I'm sure this way is a lot cheaper.
