Sometimes, but definitely not always. The only factor that gave a standard (more accurately, a manual) an advantage was the fact that they had better gearing for acceleration since they had an extra gear to save gas with when in 5th over the old 4 speeds. Todays 6 speed autos aren't burdened by that old loss factor. Also, they can now shift faster than a human, considerably faster. Google it, it's been proven many times now. Especially DSGs. Manuals used to rule, not so much any more.

Before I bought my Mazda 3 Sky 2012 I test drove both down a very uneven, bumpy road. While the Mazda mastered that road, I had to slow down with the Elantra as I was worried the back end would hop away. Not even close in the handling segment. Unlike you guys, I don't drive larger better cars so my view on this segment is more down to earth. It's a buy it, keep it car to me. I love my Mazda 3!

My Speed3 is showing 32-33MPG at 70MPH in 6th gear on the dash display. It made 247HP 265TQ today on a dynojet. Have your cake and blow it off the road,too for 2k more. These base 3's would have to get a solid 35MPG all around to be worth the massive performance hit in acceleration, braking, and cornering.

We like the car, but got scammed on the mpg. I have talked to several other Elantra owners and 34 hwy mpg is the best I have heard. Should have gottena Prius!

Testing the more expenisve Mazda with one person in vehicle and 6 speed manual VS. two people in the Elantra and why does it have an automatic? My stock 2002 Elantra GT manual 5 speed Does 0-60 in 8 seconds quarter mile in 16.00 seconds with a best of 15.9 verified with a timeslip, 135hp 133 ft/lbs plus I average 30-33 mpg with full throttle red line shifts every day for the past 12 years. TFL is sponsored by Mazda so I wonder if that has anything to do with them swaying the tests?

Hyundai cars also sport the most advanced technological features of any car company within a similar price range. For example, the Hyundai Equus features a heads-up-display which only BMW offers. Most Hyundai cars offer front and back cooled seats, extra cameras and advanced NFC technology. FORZA HYUNDAI MOTORS!

I just paid 24.9k for a 2013 MazdaSPEED3 with tech package (msrp 27,490) making 263HP/280TQ and getting an average 22 MPG. It'll zip to 60 around 6 seconds flat and clip 100mph in the 1/4 mile, .92g on the skidpad, 72+ mph slalom, and 106 feet 60-0 braking. Why would anyone looking for the least bit of Zoom Zoom or a "GT" not pay a couple thousand more bucks for a completely loaded with gizmos and power vehicle and perhaps 4 less MPG? Bad driving record, maybe?

i hate to point out the obvious but you're comparing apples to oranges....manual vs. automatic. I love the 3i Touring and was about to buy it with the manual when i saw the GT, drove it with the manual and realized it's faster and even with the style package, $3K cheaper. The GT with the 6spd doesn't have as good driving dynamics as the 3i but that's the only category the 3 has over it.

***** premium fuels are better for vehicles they have less of a chance of preigniting
@donniecahill52437 жыл бұрын
Actually you are wrong and he is right. Premium fuel in an engine requiring less than 91 RON is doing nothing but emptying your wallet faster. Due to the lower compression ratio's these engines will not have preignition or detonation from regular fuel. Now crossing over to muscle cars like camaro's mustangs hellcats etc. where these engines are REQUIRED from the factory to run premium fuel with higher compression and not to mention the fact that these engines' ecu's are tuned for this fuel, that is the only instance where premium is "better for vehicles" simply because it is a requirement.

@x2p42811 жыл бұрын
This video isn't a fair comparison, you are comparing an automatic against a manual. Anyone who knows anything about cars knows a manual will accelerate faster than an automatic. Manuals offer more power and torque at the wheels. A real increase in performance.
@joro35312 жыл бұрын
The Korean automakers' fuel economy claims are too optimistic... no surprise there. I remember Hyundai's "honest mistake" in terms of mpg last year. The same with performance, unless you buy some supped up model. Not that they are bad, excellent design and reliability... so I've been told. However, if I've got to pick between the two on video, I'll spend my money on the Mazda.

i do not fear death much but when i was driving the hyundai elantra 2015 and my hand slipped off the steering wheel because of the plastic i was scared shitless because thats never happend to me. Also, the acc/breaks are very.... "electronic/plastic/light as a feather" mazda3 2015. grip everywhere inside the car and on tires which makes for great steering and a fun driving experience. benefeits-lifetime warranty on brakes. promotion is not that much in cash back. cons- not as fast on startup as elantra but will gradually build up much faster hyundai elantra 2015 will fly like a kite (light and smoothe) i was just breezing in this parking lot doing all sorts of turns just cause it was so fast and easy on the accel. benefits- 10 year warranty 100,000 and 5,000 cash back. cons- cheap plastic not like mazdas grip, very light on the ground feels like youre floating, very high dashboard. winner for me was Mazda, i felt more safe handling and steering, and with blind spots.

Not to mention that Hyundai means modern in Korean, though it'd be better Romanized as Hyundae (or even more accurately, Hyeondae).
