I swapped out the transmission before I watched this video I wish I would have watched the video before. Props on your Technique! Just taking the front part of the gulf was a very smart move to get the starter out. I removed the front radiator Mount and pulled the radiator forward. But it didn't let me have access to the torque converter nuts. And sliding the transmission out with the torque converter still on the flywheel was a major pain in the you know what. Good job brother.

Nice. I have a P0744 code only. 2014 Sentra. Runs but looses power. Torque converter solenoid is good and I replaced it to check but no change. Pan had clean fluid with no debris. Trans was pulled from a car that only had 800 miles before being wrecked. Could my problem be just the torque converter?

Your a nissan tech?? What is your opinion and expertise of your experience on changing the cvt fluid. A spill and fill or spill plus filters and fill. And how to do it. Drain and over fill plug. Then pan and clean the mags then put back and over fill and drain back on then 4.5 quarts in then get it warm and go through all gears then take out drain plug and let it come over the over fill evenly then drain back on and done or am i wrong i need to do it and i cant affors a tech

Replacing a CVT in a 2012 Versa. Basically same procedure I'm asuming? Got a reman unit from Nissan with a bunch of paperwork inside stressing the importance of reflash TCM after replacement. Says don't even drive the car to the dealer, tow it. I have a guy that can come out and do reflashing, but just curious if it's completely necessary. It's a 2012 with 28,000 miles on it. Pretty much has a bad torque converter. It's locked up. Customer wanted the rebuilt unit since Nissan offers this one with a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty( parts and labor). Sure he's gonna need it

2:18 pause the video there and go slow if you can. They are kind of a PITA to get to. they always fall down the hole, so you have to rememeber to take them from behind the flex plate BEFORE you put the new trans in. 😢

Hello I have this same car and it too have had the cvt replaced but now the exhaust is really loud.I went to Nissan and purchased the donut gasket and replace it and I'm still having that same problem. Is replacing the exhaust manifold difficult without a lift to do?I can't seem to find any diagrams which shows the removal process

The Manifolds dont usually break on these. ITs usually just the Donut gasket...if by chance it is a cracked manifold, it should be covered under the 8 year 80thousand mile emissions warranty... If the CVT replacement caused your exhaust noise. Bring it back to whoever did the CVT and have them fix it.

My 2014 Sentra transmission is a RE0F11A. I've researched and found out that the Versa also uses the RE0F11A. The Versa transmission is almost a 1000 dollars cheaper on the used market. Will they swap between cars with no issues. Thanks

Make sure the torque convertor isn't holding it out. Rotate it several times while applying light pressure until it "drops" all the way in. If the trans doesn't mate with the engine easily, something is wrong.

So, yesterday I took my 2014 Sentra in for a drain and refill service. I am sure you are aware that certain years and models had their cvt warranties extended due to the class action lawsuit. Now, as the technician began working on my car, I get a phone call from Nissan telling me that upon inspection of my vehicle, the technician noticed that apparently the transmission case was leaking. Have you seen this in your case of working on these cars? Is this a common issue? I asked the lady that called me what that meant for my car and what was expected afterward. She told me that because my car is still covered under extended warranty, because of the leak in the transmission case, they have to completely replace the whole trans. I am not complaining, in fact I am very relieved because I was so worried that my car was going to leave me stranded one day being that these cars already are known for bad transmissions. Anyways, I just wanted to know if you know about this issue at all and I appreciate it in advanced.

The extra warranty cost like 2k not worth it and cover me until 75k miles. I love my car and now I have to spend at least 4 Grand to get my car going again.

The car was service by the dealer and there was never any codes or anything. It just failed one day. Oil change every 4.5 miles tire rotation etc etc. There was nothing i could do to prevent it :(

@@Pedro-qm1of Sorry to hear that Pedro. Call Nissan and complain to them until they offer to help pay for your repair. They wuite often help pay for peoples CVT repairs, sometimes paying for the entire bill.

i used to put a pole jack under the engine and one day i realized that i had it so low that the pole jack was not doing anything and the engine was just fine, the exhaust does a good job of adding support as well. i have been doing sentra CVT's with no pole jack for a while now and never an issue afterwards. i used to fold the inner fender back, but i just said eff it and remove them now, doesn't take me too much longer to remove. You only have to take that part off to access the starter and get to the torque converter nuts.

@@williammillsap3028 it takes 10 minutes to pull the intake and it's way easier to take the starter out from the top. You have to pull both axles out of the transmission or it's not coming out. You can do it however you want. I've done a lot of these as a Nissan tech and this is how I prefer doing it.

takes about 4 hours of constant knowing exactly what to do work. If you have never done it. expect it to take about 6 or 7 hours. make sure you have a way to get the TC buts off. You will be very upset if you round them off so done round them off.

If I remember correctly, the trans fluid temp has to be about 100 degrees. Remove the drain plug and if fluid drips, it’s full. If nothing comes out, add cvt fluid until it does. There is a tube attached to the drain plug that opens about an inch above the bottom of the pan. No fluid will drain if the level is low. You can remove the tube from the bottom with a small Allen wrench to drain the pan

Just did one in my repair shop and the dealer told me it had to be programmed. Drove thirty minutes to dealer without a hiccup. You must have another problem.

Yes, you have to do aux gear box clutch point learning and a couple of other things. The round connector on the side has to be in all the way. We got them in from tranny shops occasionally because they don't have the plugs in right.
