Here in Peru, the XV comes with a 6 speed manual. I've had mine for 3 weeks and I've driven it in rougher stuff than that with no problems at all. It does feel a bit slougish at low revs, but once you get up to 2500 rpm it picks up. Handling is a dream. You really feel like you are driving a car, very little body rol and impresive cornering. It's even better than some cars and hot hatches. My wife and I tested the Nissan Quasqai, Nissan XTrail, Renault Koleos and Kia Sportage. The XV won.

Had my first CT experience in snow this week. I got tired of waiting for the slow tractor plowing the snow so I went off road and around it, then up a long, steep, paved incline with compacted snow. Off road or on, the CT never missed a beat. I wouldn't have known I was driving through snow except that the ride was softer. Other traditional 4WDs behind me had to take a couple of tries up the the hill. A little short on torque, but this is why that's a good thing.

just ordered one Orange in Manual, sad to hear the manual isnt the best choice. but driving a auto all the time is killing me. If they come out with a turbo version i'm trading up. Anyone looking to buy dont listen to dealers when they say they cant come down. Shop all the dealers you can. I got one 1,300 off what 2 other dealers quoted me at.

That was a good review. IMO it's a shorter Outback with better gas mileage that only tows 1,500lbs as opposed to the 4cyl Outback which pulls 2,600. All around good car. In regions that have the four seasons, this car is worthy of a look. Subarus are for paved and dirt roads affected by weather. They always get top safety picks.

Considering that SOA has been shying away from offering diesels since there was no automatic this would be a great model to introduce Subaru diesel engines to the states considering that Subaru finally has a CVT unit strong enough for diesel engines.
@nmende0012 жыл бұрын
It evens out.Cost of diesel here is about 25% more but diesel engines are about 30-35% more efficient. For real offroading, you want high torque avaiable at low rpm's and diesel are good at that.High torque also helps with pulling heavy loads.Lastly, diesel not as explosive as gas, so almost no risk of car fire. Offroad you probably be going under 25 mph, so horsepower not as important as torque.Higher efficiency means greater range so you can travel farther offroad than a gas engine.
@ViveSemelBeneVivere9 жыл бұрын
I like the XV a lot and the orange is groovy, but, in this day and age, all cars and SUVs with smaller displacements should come with turbo and even with biturbo. Like Audi does. Nuff said.

To get a full picture, look for XV vs Defender; it will open your eyes. I agree, the horsepower seems a little light but, making a high ground clearance a race car doesn't make sense,

I go with mine where other people wouldn't dare and it's fun. Surprisingly capable and I uploaded videos to show. If you need more power for this car then you're looking at the wrong car to buy, this is not a boy racer, take it off road or in snow and it will do just fine.

Why don't they sell the diesel in the US?!?!?!
@KAMU1310 жыл бұрын
Tell me about it! I love diesel as I have lived in Europe, but besides few European car models you won't find any luck. We've down selected to Subaru Forester/ Crosstek and Audi Q5 TDI, because the later has Diesel engine with much higher hp and torque. Then again it is almost 30% pricier than the highest Forester trim. Wish the Audi A3 sport TDI came out this year. Oh well...
@snow_monkey9 жыл бұрын

@ViveSemelBeneVivere9 жыл бұрын
+binkymagnus The USA will eventually wake up to the wonder of TurboDiesel engines. TurboDiesel delivers superior torque and that is best for acceleration, for hauling, and for fuel economy. TurboDiesel is the fuel of choice, as Europe realised long ago.
@gry8ruth7 жыл бұрын
BC big oil companies would lose their ass. The Diesel version is so much better for almost everything, and due to them getting so much better economy, big oil couldnt sell as much of their product. Thats why.

I have an Impreza with the 2.5L in it. When I drive it around at low to medium power levels it feels fairly powerful and torquey, which is great for slow around town driving. But when you try to get on it and pass someone or just let out some steam on an empty road it's best described as a total dog. It's like the engine is punishing you for going past 3000 rpm. I can only imagine what a donkey show this car is with the 2.0L making even less power.

oil consumption problem, subaru xv?? this is true???
@nmende0012 жыл бұрын
The "X" is not an "X," it's a cross. XV stands for crossover vehicle. So the full name is Subaru Crossover Vehicle Crosstrek. Kind of silly. It's like they couldnt decide on giving it a name or picking an alphanumeric designation. In the US we have the RAV4 is (recreational active vehicle with all wheel drive) CRV (compact recreational vehicle). They could have called it just crosstrek or just left it. XV crosstrek is just redundant

It's also why we see more smoking diesel engines. Like the large turbo-diesel ram trucks? They spit out so much smoke it's not funny.
@nmende0012 жыл бұрын
Diesel engines actually perform better at high altitudes than gasoline engines. Why? Gasoline engines operate at a very specific ratio of fuel and air. At high altitudes, the air is thinner-literally: there are fewer molecules of air per cubic foot. In the mountains, then, gasoline engines have to add less fuel to keep the ratio perfect, which affects performance. But a diesel engine runs fuel-lean; you don't have to keep the ratio perfect.

While I'd def buy this if it had a little more power, I'm not sure just adding a turbo would be the end of its problems. Fuel economy isn't exactly great anyway! Adding a turbo would obviously make mpg even worse. Odd, it seems Subaru have created a beautiful and exotic looking car, but they should've put the 250hp Forester engine in this thing!
@ViveSemelBeneVivere9 жыл бұрын
