I feel the same way. It was actually exactly 2013 when my friend introduced me to Minecraft. We were just meeting. We never were close but my mom was having a coffee meeting with her mom to talk about the homeschool co-op she ran and to see if it would be a good fit for me. Me and her were in the corner of Starbucks playing on her iPad (I didn't have one and was all 🤩 over hers) and she opened Minecraft. I was watching her play and she was showing me how it worked. She didn't know much at the time now that I'm looking back on it but she had built a little dessert cave base and was lighting it up. I asked my mom if I could play it when I got home. Little 8 year old me was so excited and wanted to play it so badly. My other friends weren't allowed to play it bc their parents were strict. Since I didn't have a tablet or phone of iPad I used the family computer. I spent my birthday money buying it for myself. Can't remember exactly what version it was so correct me if I'm wrong but I wanna say it was 1.8.3. I opened it the first time and got so excited. I got a tablet that year for Christmas and bought it on there too. I named my first world "Zania". I still continue to call things Zania as a callback to those days for me. It was so much simpler then. When I had time to play and have fun. I'm about to graduate highschool and I need to get a job, think abt colleges, focus on my career, start worrying about cars and gas, groceries, money, friendships, relationships, it's all so much. I miss those days

Sadly enough, there was a last time my whole friend group played Minecraft together. The worst part is, I cant remember the day we stopped, but I do remember going back to one of the worlds I owned. Walking down the gravel path we used to take to go mining, passing by my house untouched for years, finding my friends dog sitting in a little den he made for it. A good time forever preserved. The worst part is, I really REALLY cant remember trying to go back. One day we played, and then one day, we didnt.

It was 6th grade I remember when every morning and at every day at the end of the day in my elementary school. In 2015 I had a world with my best friend in sixth grade and every day after school we would go to the band hall and play on our phones. But during that summer I moved away with my family and we never entered that world together again, we also slowly lost contact with each other until the last time I ever saw him was in 2018. To this day I still have it on my phone but I barely ever go in there again except to remember the good times. That year is still the most special year in my life because it feels like the last time I ever had true friends. I’m in college now but I still feel like I’m waiting to go back to that school, like my life is on pause until I can see all the friends I never wanted to leave behind

И я ушёл, перестал существовать в ней - пропал былой интерес, та самая жажда приключений. А с ними и все былые ощущения. Печально осознавать, что я все ещё молод, но уже так скучаю по тому времени. Прошло, и правда, больше десяти лет. Счастливое было время. Помню, как с друзьями играли в школе в третьем классе прямо на уроках. Помню как отец ради моего счастья пытался взломать третью PS, что бы скачать на неё пиратскую версию, но у него так и не вышло. Помню, как бродил по туториал миру, как записывал видео себе в ВК, просто ставя камеру перед экраном. Помню, как пытался в пиксель-арт, строил метро, познавал сборки модов (до сих пор помню самую любимую - от DragonX!!) Все эти разрушения, вызванные модами с ядерными ракетами, все эти постройки, сделанные пусть и не по стилю современного строительства, но с душой, с друзьями. Я помню сначала Скайп, потом созвоны в Стиме, а потом и Дискорд. Навсегда запомню свой SMP, который я когда то держал. Игры в сплиф, DayZ-мод, паркуры, карты, сервера. Всех людей, кому я раздавал вещи на спавне, кого я гриферил, с кем я познакомился в этой игре, с кем играл свадьбы, строил базы и с кем добывал ресурсы в автошахтах. Это всё не только часть культуры самой игры - это и часть меня отныне и, надеюсь, навсегда. Все эти открытия, страхи, туториалы по редстоуну, игры с друзьями, моды - я этого не забуду. И пусть забудутся дни в школе, забудутся весёлые прогулки по летнему городу, всё, что мы называем таким счастливым детством - эту игру я буду помнить всегда. I struggled with this but in the end realized that's what makes everything you do important. I can surely say that Minecraft was more than just a game. It shaped many of our childhoods. I am now 21 (about to turn 22) and am entering adulthood. It's so weird how life flies by. All the embarassing moments throughout my childhood now seem so small and distant. But this music brings me back to all the fun times I had with my childhood friends, the memories, the summers, and man oh man do I wish I could go back in time and relive it, but I can't. But I think that's what makes life so beautiful, you can't go back. For anyone who is younger (or older), maybe you are going through some difficult times. I've never felt so old, a decade ago I was only 8... I still don't believe the fact that I'm already a legal adult, my grandfather passed away a month ago, he's been there all throughout my childhood, miss you grandpa, the MC soundtrack reminds me of not only the memories I've made with my friends playing this game, but my childhood as a whole and what it feels like to be genuinely happy. 10 years ago I could have never imagined the impact that this soundtrack would have on me listening to it nowadays. This year has been the most nostalgic year of my life. My older brother is graduating at the end of the year and moving to another state and my little brother became a teenager this year. Life is very mysterious and weird for sure, but also cruel at the same time, as we are cruel to one another; I wish this weren't the case, we are in a massive universe and we're not even 1% of it, so why can't we treat one another better and work together to explore this mysterious universe we are in. I want to know why all the suns orbit blackholes at the center of galaxies, but we simply do not know why, sure gravity, but why is it orchestrated so perfectly that every single galaxy has a blackhole? Why do fractal patterns exist all throughout nature and throughout the universe, life seemed much weirder to me once I tripped on acid and I began to question more things. It is hard being an adult but I think I will be a gamer for life, with a balance of course, back then I used to game waaaay too much haha.

Minecraft has changed me both physically and emotionally. I started playing in 2013 and let me tell you, my little mind would go in all sorts of crazy adventures. I had a really good friend that I would play Minecraft with all the time, but then he moved away. I don’t know where, lost all contact with him, and he’s slowly fading away in my mind. I played on the exact same world me and him would play on almost every day. That world taught me how to get over losses and fears that I couldn’t get over before. I was kind of young in 2013 but I remember watching my older brother play minecraft. I loved the music and one day he helped me make a pen with pink sheep and mushroom cows. I haven't played Minecraft in a while. Since I was eleven but I kind of wanna play it again. Maybe one last goodbye to my childhood before highschool. I'm scared of growing up. I'm scared about going to college and moving out. I'm upset that other girls my age are so much more mature than me, I feel like I've lost a part of myself that I'll never be able to get back. Videos like this one keep popping up on my feed and every time I see them my heart sinks. I feel a mix of nostalgia, melancholy, loneliness and something else I can't quite place my finger on. Even though I've been playing this game since 2012, it's not like I have specific moments while playing minecraft that stuck with me and gave me this mix of feelings. I never really had a world that I could go back to and reminisce. No world really lasted me more than a few months at most, only to be deleted or forgotten on an older laptop or computer. I guess that's also part of what I'm feeling. A sort of sadness for something I never had? I dunno. I wish I could find a group of people to just, play minecraft with and give myself that sort of experience. I want my nostalgia for this game to be happier than it is. I feel like I lost out on something beautiful that I cannot ever emulate, like I lost out on an important part of a collective childhood so many of my peers enjoyed. I love minecraft, it's what I grew up with, but I can't shake the feeling that I never really truly experienced the game in it's essence. Thank you for posting videos like these.

While reading this I realized that I had the same experience. I didn't know how to join multiplayer servers; I would only play survival worlds for a day and make a new one the next (granted I was 7) and all the creative worlds that I did continuously play have been deleted due to our old family computer breaking. However, the more I look back on it, the more I realize that I was doing exactly what I loved, playing Minecraft exactly how 6- or 7-year-old me wanted. Sure, I wish I would have done some things differently now, but the few memories I have retained from those game shine like my first diamond pickaxe. Don't regret the past, especially if you were enjoying it.

I wouldn't consider the early 2010s to be great for me, primarily due to family drama and my hate for school. But if everything was stable, then so would the early 2010s for me. Social media back then was primarily used through computers, and everyone wasn't staring at their phones 24/7. 2013 was one of the last few years of people not being on their phones constantly, and was the last few years people used an actual camera instead of their phones. I think 2015 was the year everyone was on their phones, destroying what we were meant to be. In my opinion, 2017 was the year social media became a toxic hellhole with the rise of the cancel culture. 2020 was what made everyone go online, never to look back at how social we were.

В выходные дни бесцельно провожу свое свободное время сидя в KZbin либо в донатной помойке, под названием War Thunder, лишь изредка пытаясь заставить себя вернуться к творчеству, которое на протяжении долгого времени было моим хобби и с которым я такое долгое время желал связать свою жизнь (Учился я на графического дизайнера - недоучился по личным причинам, а ведь оставался мне всего лишь один курс из 4-х). Я так хочу вернуться туда, в прошлое - в свои беззаботные 2016-2017-ые года - время, когда я и мои друзья по школе не забивали свои головы мыслями о не таком уж светлом будущем, о тяготах взрослой жизни и вопросах о смысле своей жизни, но просто наслаждались простыми вещами, открывали для себя что-то новое и увлекательное, погружались в новый для себя мир интернета и социальных сетей, играли друг с другом в различные кооперативные\онлайновые игры, среди которых был и всеми нами любимый Minecraft - игра, в которой ты с дружной компанией можешь провести даже на часы, а целые сутки без перерыва. Игра, в которой тебя ограничивала лишь твоя фантазия. Игра, что действительно подстегивала тебя мыслить творчески, поощряя эксперименты... Сейчас, заходя в эту игру, прослушивая ее саундтрек я не испытываю ничего, кроме пожирающей меня изнутри печали, тоски вперемешку с ностальгией. The feeling you get when you start a new world is like no other. That first block of wood, a night hiding in a hole, your first house, then the experience of rebuilding after a creeper blew it up. The feeling of accomplishment after building a new base. The trips to the nether, then the thrill of fighting the EnderDragon. Even just exploring the Overworld and finding new biomes. These are truly the best parts of the game. Some may say that they miss the early versions of the game, and others may prefer the most recent versions, but either way, the magic of Minecraft will always remain, and so will the memories made along the way.
