It is pitch freakin' black at 07:00, there! I have to be on my stand at 05:30 to get in before dawn here. I hate it when work gets in the way of my hunting. We are still in rifle season in Florida and will be until the end of Feb with the last 2 weeks going back to Primitive /Muzzleloading. All your deer must have come down here to escape the cold we do not have a season limit, we can get 2 a day with a possession limit of 4. Now that is bucks only, does are only during certain weeks Those are pretty woods to me with all the various conifers. Sorry you didn't get a deer this year. Enjoyed this Chris. Thanks Stan. Ya that time of year it stays dark until about 8 am or so. Two weeks later when daylight savings kicks in it is an hour earlier but then it is dark by 430pm which I really hate. Man, no limits, you must have no hunters or a zillion deer. Until about 4 years ago they were like rats up here but the numbers have just been decimated. Best of luck the rest of the season Stan. i only had time for some hunting this year, but we got two deers and i learned how to skin a deer so it is a beginning :) some flat terrain you out in there btw hehe

dseed Awesome skill to learn! I process mine completely myself now. Right from the shot all the way to the hamburger and sausage in the freezer. And ya, being in the prairies you can watch your dog run away for 2 days it is so flat.

Very jealous man! I have not been deer hunting in a few. I was given an old 60's model crossbow by my father about 32 years ago. It hits hard and as deep at 50-60 yards pretty accura t e. I plan on a crossbow deer hunt next year. I also been exploring air rifles for small game. So far took 6 cotton tails and countless squirrls. I am making a survival addition to my gear, ammo cheap and kills enough to fill the dinner plate. I think a high quality air rifle is plenty powerful. Mine is a .22 cal. Killed rabbits and squirrls quikli.

Yep. a high quality air rifle is plenty good enough for rabbits and squirrels and grouse and the like. Great idea Jesse.
