ok the past few days i have been following this i think i like yours best so far. So i have been working on mine the only thing i have bought so far is the pack i had my eye on walmarts ultralight backpack it is a 28 ltr pack it's light could be lighter but ok 18 dollars can't bitch the other bad is no bottle pockets at all. So last night i started this first add zpacks 10 deg sleeping bag i want to be warm and comfortable so my neoair mattress next, a Cabelas 10x10 extreme tarp sil nylon , now hears is kinda a dilemma i use 2 different types of cordage normally the tarp is set up with the heaver stuff acc climbing line i think it 2.5 mm but i have a lot on the tarp i have used this for years but i need to drop a little weight down some it's not easy . i have 60 ft or so of sea to submit idn 1.5 mm stuff i really love that stuff so small and light and strong . so i may change it to that . , next polycryo tarp super small and ultralight , for the ground , i may switch the sil tarp to the sol emergency blanket like you have i have one but it's hard to leave a strong 10x10 tarp. ,cooking snow peaks 700 ml titanium cup no lid and foil windbreak, esbit and ugi trywing stove , long handle spoon snow peaks , 2 mtn house meals, hat gloves ultralight , toilet paper , mini fire steel ugi storm matches tender quick, small baby knife , Cloraflock water treatment and i may half to drop the sawyer mini filter , bandanna , 6 ground hogs , i did this last night and was almost there with the 10x10 tarp ,

I know you are not looking to purchase anything but if you ever do add to your First Aid Kit - look into adding Tegaderm bandages and Steri-strips. They are a bit spendy as bandages go, but used both this past weekend - thankfully not on me! Light and much more adhesive than band aids in the bush.
@UrbanSuburban0109 жыл бұрын
+Alpha Whisky Adventures hey there buddy. I may not have mentioned it as I kinda lump them in with band-aids but I do always carry steri-strips. I will need to look into the tegederm though for sure. I hope no one injured anything they can't recover from. Take care.

Impressive. Thinking about a poncho vs a tarp. A windshield sun foil reflector vs the tyvar . One heatsheet and 1 mil plastic drop cloth. One contractor bag. Some tape and 6 zip ties. Just the metal cup. I thought yours was a great kit. Thanks

This is an interesting topic and for what it is worth, I have learned that it all depends on a lot of variables which depend on things like where you are going, how long you are intending to be out, the weather, terrain, what you are doing; are you just trying to get home? Are you in a survival situation? Are you just on a day hike or an overnighter? Are you on an exposition or long term mission? Are you just scouting? Etc., etc. There is no way that one bag fits every situation, just like one knife is not suited for every cutting task. As a general rule, I make sure I always Cary the five Cs of survival in every pack and then pack the rest of my kit based on what I am doing and the needs or the variables that are best suited to the mission.

5lb Survival kit contents start @8:11 .Liking that Ribs pack and all the item organizing it provides. Your Gear is really clean and new looking, well taken care of.. Love to make HM Tyvek for bivy, camp shoes, wind break, etc. great stuff and super light. PolyTarp home wrap is a great tarp, super light. can't go wrong with a good hennessy hammock...loving that gear. fat Ranger band around the Mora knife sheath, will make a good holder for a Ferro rod & Sharpening stone.Nice Cook set..love it.I am guessing your gonna cloth filter water, and boil for your water purification system..no portable water filter ? Cheers ;-)

+Kanzee Aanii. The Ribz pack is a great pack. Most of the trees where I roam are very resinous pine and spruce and leave a heck of a sticky sooty mess on your pots if you cook over a fire. I try to rub them down with an alcohol based hand sanitizer after using them as it takes the soot off like magic if you get to it in a reasonable time. I agree that Tyvek and poly make for great lightweight materials for DIY projects. I decided to skip the filter just based on the weight restriction alone. Figured between using the bandanna to prefilter then boiling it I would be good. But I had a few Aquatab purifying tablets in there as well as they take no space and weigh nothing. Thanks for watching and adding your input.

Aanii Niiji U.S. (Hello my friend UrbanSuburban). Looking forward to viewing more of your videos and picking up good tips and tricks from you. chi miigwetch (big thank you.) ...I hear some campers will coat there pots with dish soap , then cook or boil and any soot will wipe off , super easy ...still gotta give this a try. Cheers ;-)

i also agree that it would be cooler to make it say 7 to 8 lbs with food for being nice hear 2 days . If i did that i would drop all tarps and go with my freestanding tent 2 lbs 3 oz and not bring any cordage at all none also only use my 3 shepherd hook titanium stakes. positive i could fit it all in my pack i have packed in a 22 ltr backpack but had a smaller sleeping bag .
@UrbanSuburban0109 жыл бұрын
+Dan Leasure I agree. I would switch to my one man tent as well.

After my battery died it was getting dark and i had a bad bad spot to camp i set up rocks poking me to find that the hole darn area was covered in daddy long legs they must have had a convention going on there and tones of littler tan spiders so it's dark and i said I'm walking back to the car and hopefully I'll find a better spot before i get there God was with me and yup i actually found the only one there not taken it was purfic and no spiders other than at 1 am 12 KU kids camping up in a field above the woods came right through my sight the boys had big logs from the lake banks and the girls all had cloth shopping bags with sticks in them of corse they had to stop and pet the suck up dog of mine he's a ham for girls I'm suprised he didn't go camp with the girls.

+Rangersly thanks for watching. It is a pretty cool little stove, although a little on the pricey side. If I was to do it all over again I think I would have gone with the Gen 2 Firebox Nano. That looks like a really sweet little setup. Take care.

I have to get a bug net myself. Mosquito's will drive you insane. I really like the toothbrush with toothpaste also. A nasty tasting mouth is no fun. I carry a water filter (Sawyer mini) instead of purification tabs, but both will get you hydrated. Nice review and thank you!
@UrbanSuburban0107 жыл бұрын
csh 62 thanks for watching. I carry a filter with me too when I know I am going to be putifying water. Currently using the Hydroblu Versaflo and am loving it. Cant go wrong with a Sawyer though.

I'm kinda like you, I watch a lot of these for fun. I've gotten a little unrealistically critical. "You carry a what?" I gotta say, I agreed with everything you packed. Altho, I live in arid area. Plan to carry a fair bit of water. I know that's heavy, and it's not fair to include water in a 5 lb kit. . Oh, and every such kit should have a method to charge a cell phone.
@UrbanSuburban0106 жыл бұрын
Duke Makedo thanks pal! And I actually do carry at least a small 4000mah power bank all the time now. No one goes anywhere without a cell nowadays. Thanks for watching!
