You’re welcome! You’ll most likely break the plastic in the clam shell but a small sacrifice to get this fixed. And as I mentioned, there are some other videos that show how to remove that assembly. 👍🏼

@@v8mopar71 Alright so mine broke, shifter is wobbling everywhere. I'm going to fix it myself because I'm stubborn but I enjoy fixing my own things. However, I found instructions on how to replace it but in these are the instructions on how to fix it for the recall a few years back and they include how to reprogram the computer. You didn't have to reprogram anything when you got your new part and installed it did you? It was just plug 'n' play right? Secondly, I found parts for sale on allmoparparts.com, is that where you went? I'm leery of buying online and want to make sure it's a legit website so I don't get scammed. I don't mind shelling out $70 (which are the prices I'm seeing now) but I want something for it. Wish you had made the video of you replacing it but this was at least informative and helped me know someone else out there could do it, so that means I can too. Thanks.

@@ki11j0yz The box says "Mopar OE Parts Online" the website is not there anymore. Maybe they're not in business anymore but it looks like I paid $73 plus shipping for a total of around $82. I wanted to make a video replacing it but ended up not doing so (my bad). I probably have some pictures on iCloud somewhere. I believe my truck has the recall for the transmission reprogram/inspection at the moment I just haven't gotten around to doing it. I wouldn't do any reprogramming or anything that the dealership will do, I didn't have to do anything like that. I worked at a dealership as a service advisor for several years and messing with a recall/campaign and messing it up can cost you in the end as it is a job for the dealership and damaging it and taking it to them could be deemed voiding that job and you can be charged for the work instead. This is a bolt on piece unless you rip/break wires inside the shifter so be very careful with that. I haven't had any issues with the shifter it works great. Just look up the videos on removing the clam shell and you should be straight if you're used to working on things yourself. Good Luck!

Installed a shifter lever in my 2017 ram 1500 because I despised the damn knob for the transmission. Just no. Purchased a brand new 2013 ram lever and system. Installed it in my 2017 ram. Some people kept looking at the truck like “whhhaaat?” “Hey dude that’s a 2017 ram that come with that shifter?” I tell them the story

@@v8mopar71 yep. It’s got same everything just that knob for the transmission is gone and the shifter stock is installed in the column. It doesn’t look ridiculous too because I had to add some 2013 ram parts to install it. The steering wheel plastic is from 2013 ram. The steering wheel is stock I like the steering wheel. It’s obviously has the 2013 ram shifter stock and system I installed in the column. Wired it all and got it to work.

Wow that’s crazy . My truck has been not running lately due to my cousin driving it and complaining it was driving with power loss and was struggling so I looked at it and saw that the shifter lever was going to all gears except drive instead it jumped to the (+/-) 4th gear which is steep hills I believe so it was Slow as hell. I went out today to let it run so it doesn’t just sit there and I happen to hold down the + button on the shift lever and it went into drive and even drove fast again but hey this all occurred Keeping that button pressed the entire time and if I let go BOOM 4th gear it will go. This is a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 by the way but I have no clue what’s going on

I don’t know what exactly is going on in your situation, probably a dumb question but have you searched forums and KZbin for this issue? Is the check engine light on? Scanned for codes? Maybe the shifter needs to be replaced entirely as it may be damaged or malfunctioning.

At the time the video was made there was no recall for this issue. But if that is the case NOW the. Yes contact the local dealership blah blah blah 👍

Mine broke as well. I’m going to replace myself as I removed the clam shell and it looks straight forward enough. My only question is what looks to be a rod connected to the back of the part that gets pulled forward and back as you move the shifter. How exactly does that come off? Do you just pop it off and on to the new part? Is it under any tension when you remove it? Thanks for any help!

It was straight forward, you slide in the shifter into the hole that has a screw to tighten so it can hold the actual shifter. If this is not what you’re referring to please let me know.

I did not have to reprogram anything it was pretty straight forward watching other videos on how to take apart. No damage was done to shifter wires on mine though.

I’m sorry to hear that, I took my truck into the dealership for several recalls, this shifter lever is now a recall (at least in California) it’s an inspection and if they have to they’ll install a new one. If you have your receipts for the other brackets you can turn them in and they’ll send a reimbursement also. Good luck!

I have a 2014 ram 2500 with a steering wheel tilt adjustment that is too tight and can't seem to get it off. Feels like I break the bottom shell from pulling with the tilt wheel on the lower left side. Advise?

I was about to call a tow truck when I looked to see if I had pliers in my truck, which I did. The way the bracket broke on my truck gave me enough room to shift and get home. I looked close to the sprinkler on the bracket and gripped and pulled back towards me and shifted like it was the shifter. Every situation is different, this is what I did. I’d recommend getting a tow if possible. Wouldn’t recommend what I did for anyone else.

@@v8mopar71 I've been using pliers for a month now. 2014 Ram 2500. Got the 3 screws out and the top clam off. Attempted to take the bottom plastic piece off of the steering column and my tilt wheel lever on the lower left side of the steering column wheel stopped me. Felt like I would break the bottom plastic piece. Too tight. Do I need to take off the bottom plastic where your knees are? The whole plastic piece below the steering wheel?

I didn’t find a video on how to replace this part and I was going to make one but ended up not doing that. I just found videos on how to take apart the clam shell and the rest is pretty obvious given if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. It’s not a 10 minute job and the videos were not super detailed but showed enough to get it done.
