OMG Brother thanks for the Video... came out of the woods from hunting and went to start my truck, and BOOM... WRONG KEY FOB. Thought it was the cold, so used the remote start to heat up the key and it worked. Thought I was done, NOPE! Went home, then went to go run an errand, WRONG KEY FOB! Then google searched for the problem, and watched your video. Thought, WTH.... opened mine up and it was a mess, dusty as hell! Cleaned it all out, and surprise surprise it WORKED!!!! What year is your truck and how many miles. I’m having similar problems 2017 Dodge ram tradesmen 60,000 miles. I just got back from hunting trip from the panhandle. Florida was in real rough terrain and muddy got back to work and I have no power in my truck.

On the last trip I had to reinsert the key about 10-15 times to get it to read each time. Your video was the first the popped up when I searched for the problem. No visible dust buildup on mine, but I sprayed it thoroughly anyway. Put it back together and the truck is reading the key again! Thanks for your video. 2014 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins

My truck scared the shit out of me today with transmission problem on dash. Was able to get home but when I turned off truck it did the exact same thing yours did, so I tried your repair and man it worked perfect. Now it’s back to normal again

Ok this exact thing happened the other night. But there a quick fix that will get you started in the mean time. Found it by watching other videos cause I was stranded. Put key in, hold the unlock button while you turn it on, and it turns on. Starts you immediately. That’s how I start the truck at this moment, but I have to try this to actually fix the issue, cause it still doesn’t start the normal way, only by pressing unlock while starting. Hope this info helps others and hope this video helps me.

I’m just holding the button firmly as I turn the key. Sometimes it takes me a few times. But it’s the only way I’m driving my truck right now and not dead in the water. Tried the brake cleaner bunch of times and didn’t work for me unfortunately.

This is great, for if I have a situation like this...... HOWEVER, I have 2 key fobs, one will work no problemo, while the other one won't work at all. How do I get the second one to work? The one that doesn't work is the one I gave my wife to use. Need to get this fixed

My 2012 Ram 2500 has the same issue. I removed it and sprayed it. It still doesn't recognize that the key is in the ignition with no start. Off to the dealer on a tow truck next week. Nice looking trucks with faulty ignitions. I am glad it is parked in an area of yard where it is not in the way and I have a second vehicle.

I used to work for a company that manufactured these ignition with the Fobik 1s. I was a quality control geek and my God, when I saw these things. I thought, why rely on a small plastic tabs to keep the key in and why are we not sealing these to keep the elements out? Also, be extremely careful of the copper coil contacts. The strands are know to break easily.

Very good info and a pretty easy fix. Well done. I've had a similar problem except in my case, the fob won't unlock the truck or anything. So I use the hidden manual key to unlock the doors, which, of course, sets off the alarm and since the fob isn't working correctly, I have to pull the fuse to stop the blaring horn. Nothing works, so I just leave it for a few hours and come back to it and all is well. Riddle me that one! I've had it to the dealership repeatedly over the years but still randomly, and rarely does this.

This is an ignition fix not a key fix. If one of your keys works this fix isn't going to help you.

For anyone who has this problem, and this fix did not work I took my truck to the dealer and my key fob was bad. Had to order new ones. Before I got the new fobs I was opening my driver door and was unlocking and locking the doors multiple times I would then shut the door and the damn thing would start.

I have the exact OPPOSITE problem, lol. Fobik will start truck when in ignition. Fobik will NOT unlock, lock, panic, remote start. However, when I press the buttons on Fobik , my dash lights up as if it wants to work. (Brand new battery in Fobik) Edit : *SOLUTION TO THIS IN REPLY BELOW*

Here's the fix that worked for MY issue... (2014 Ram , *Fobik* key) Unlock doors manually Turn 'ON' hazrads Hold the 'Lock' on the fobik for 5 seconds Now put the Fobik into the ignition and turn to the 'ON' position (NOT the 'run' position) Click the 'Unlock' button on the Fobik that's still in the ignition. (You should hear it unlock) Turn 'OFF' vehicle, turn 'OFF' hazards. Remove Fobik from ignition. Hit the 'Lock' button (Locks will engage, and hazards will flash 2 times) You are done. Fobik has been reset/reprogrammed. And you didn't have to pay the dealership $120. Edit : This works when you accidentally trip a safety mechanism that disables the fobik without knowing it. (can be for a multitude of reasons, TBH)

Been having this problem intermittently for the last few months, would take a few minutes of trying to get it to go. This last time it never started so I had it towed and just spent $600 at a dealership to tell me they can’t do anything for it because it’s started when they tried it. Someone mentioned in the comments to maybe check for a loose harness by the pedals. Otherwise, I think dealership might be your next move :/

@@MJAltairy I actually fixed this issues last night- if you truck isn’t detecting the key fob in anyway even with a new battery in the key- Disconnect the truck’s battery terminals for 5 minutes, this makes the trucks system fully reset itself. When you connect the battery back both of my keys worked. Thanks for the input though I appreciate it.

My 2014 5.7 Big Horn was in a nasty front end collision..Tow truck guy used the bypass button to get it in neutral.It started for a long time this way.after a complete rebuild.I hit remote start.it made several noises.relays were making noise.It ha 0 power to dash ignition.what part was it that shut it down.could this be my problem? I wouldn’t because it will stay wet and not dry out. Brake clean and electrical cleaning solutions evaporate quickly so that you’re not risking any electrical shorts, etc.
