I'm having issues with my 2014 Ford focus radio the sound comes and goes so I need to change the receiver ford told me that it needs to be the exact one I guess serial number part number whatever # it' is, got to be the same one! but somebody else told me it doesn't matter as long as it comes out of a 2012 2013 and of course the 2014 ? 98 Supra Fanatic i went to a junkyard looking for one cause mine went out. they said the last two letters of the serial number have to somewhat match (specific range). they said it was vital cause if you try to install a unit that isn’t compatible then it’ll lock you out of the stereo system completely cause it’ll think it’s been stolen or something. but they tried to charge me 250 cause the market price is over 800 damn dollars

@@best_technician Its working from the steering wheel buttons or the knob. Other buttons on the steering wheel work, as do buttons on the radio system. It seems like only things relating to sound are having issues. For instance, if you try changing the treble/bass with the arrows, nothing changes, but the arrows work for other things. Fyi, I replaced my radio with a slightly differnet part #. I couldn't find my exact model online, but it said the one purchased was compatible with many models including the original. I assume this could be the issue but wondered if there was anything else I could try before returning it.

No, its a mix of both. On the steering wheel, the buttons that control the dash display work, but not the volume buttons. Then on the audio system, the volume knob doesn't work or any commands to change audio functions.

No, our radio doesn’t work either, even if we connect a phone via audio cable. It does the same exact thing on the display that yours did when you pressed the “on” button. I was just hoping it would take care of everything audio related.
