This video covers 2013+ Ford Fusions. How do cars get like this? If you can’t tell I was a bit frustrated with this car!

I scrub the felt with a white scrubbie dry. Follow with dry paper towel. Really cleans the dirt out of the gaskets. Follow by taping over all felt. With sweep removed it’s a much cleaner operation.

I used to tape almost all felts but got pretty comfortable with managing where the water and tint went and it became less of an issue for me. A couple things I found is having the solution a little more slippery helps it slide in to place behind the felts with less fighting, and getting it in to position with minimal movement so that you can squeegee it one time to push the water out and not have to go over it multiple times.

I'm curious about this video. I had my 2014 Ford Fusion tinted in December 2021 and after everything had dried out there was a lot of bubbles and contaminates. The shop that did it re-tinted the whole car except for the visor strip last week. Their waiting area is right inside the shop so I was able to see the whole process and they didn't remove the sweeps either time. They also left streaks of soapy water on the outside of the car the 2nd time they were tinted. Both times I took them a very clean vehicle - inside and out. This guy did my first tint job in 1990 and like yourself he is selling the business but still working with the new owners. I'm guessing by the work I have seen in your video that you don't finish a job leaving a car dirty. Good work!

I always try and clean up after myself. I think sometimes tinters get in a hurry and don’t realize the little stuff that makes people happy. The fusion can be a bit difficult to get clean, but removing the sweeps lowers that difficulty a lot. I used to struggle with getting clean jobs out of the last model fusion no matter how clean the car was until I started pulling the sweeps and even taping the felt.
